"He was trying to teach me something. And now I know what it was; and now what I know what it meant..." You know, growing up with a Jewish background, this song literally brings me back to what must've been the most infantile point of my life - completely vulnerable and ignorant of the world. It reminds me of how festive life was through my eyes, much like the music itself. My parents used to put me to sleep with this song in particular. I relate to Perry here on a very personal level.

Very nice! I’ve never seen this tune performed live before...has to be pretty rarified air. Janes was really something else back in the day. 👍

Especially with the violin player present. I saw the ritual uk your and she wasn't there for the first couple gigs but arrived halfway thru the tour.

why is ALL early footage of Jane's Addiction is of the poorest sound and visual quality? Yet we have millions of hours of amazing footage of the 60's groups....... It seems to me, the 60's generation were much more excited about witnessing their music as it was happening. By the time the late 80's came, people at clubs were complacent to understand how magical these guys were. Pharell was the rarest musical gypsy to ever rock the mic in any generation.

Because all the 80's stuff is on videotape. All the 60's stuff is on film.

besides this is the way to see them , as raw as they were live

truth couldn't be more opposite actually, look at a band like Zeppelin...not even close to as represented visually as Jane's. The list goes on and on of those 60s and 70s acts. They were usually rushing through everything and doing loads of drugs to have a moment to plan filming, that's why we have the one live film per band they did or were forced into letting be filmed or were secretly shot or were shot for the arena etc tooooons of Jane's gigs were filmed in the early days, more leak out all the time bro!

OMFG! I was at this show. I was standing between the violin player and Dave Navarro who is immediately to her stage left. I have repeatedly told people this was the best concert I ever went to in my life! There is a decent chance I am *in* the wide shots!

Brilliant.Thanks for posting this rarely-played-live song.Like Metallicaroc & sharkboner, this song never astounded me during that time - was maybe too weird for me back then? One of my faves now. This was the year I graduated HS, and saw them play at MSG in NYC, probably a month or so after this.The band members seemed barely aware of where they wereI thought they were just drunk didnt know what being on heroin looked like at that time.The stage set looked like a living room. Unforgettable.

@MrSuperdico Perry didn't write all Jane's songs. Not sure about this one. Eric A. wrote the majority I believe.
@zeplova872 жыл бұрын
Not only did perry write this song. Eric refused to play on it on the album. He certainly did not write it, he’s not even on it! Check the liner notes for the album. Pretty sure the producer or someone had to lay down the bass track.
