I loved this! Women only had their sexuality to rely on & they survived somehow.. They were really given no other options.

Thank you. You're quite correct in what you say; tragic times to be a lady. 😊

The same is indeed true today. Someoneonce made the observation women are much more powerful than men for it.

I feel bad for Edward’s wife. Elizabeth Woodville was a fascinating woman as well, and she bore him many children and was devoted to their family. I find it somewhat irritating that we’re here praising Edwards connection to his side piece… regardless of how “clever” and “charming” she may have been. That being said, Jon, I love your channel. 😌

Sadly mistresses were normal in those times . Elizabeth probably didn’t like it but knew she had Edward’s love and although he wasn’t faithful she knew he’d never leave her, Jane and other mistresses were just a side line. Although he seemed to care more about her than a lot of his other mistresses

BIG SUPRISE, SHOCK... a scandal, no just normal in the medieval period,... Edward IV of york ancestor prince john of gaunt... mistress katherine swynford... founded the HOUSE OF BEAUFOURT.. the bastard line that captured the throne...

A fascinating woman. It says a lot about her personality that she didn't use her influence for her own advantage but for the disgraced. Obviously she wasn't looking for power or expensive presents but for a man who really loved her. I am glad she found him in the end and that they had a daughter together. Thanks for this interesting video.

I wonder if things would have turned out differently if he had met her first not long after her annulment and married her instead of Elizabeth Woodville..and if Elizabeth Shore was barren, then would Richard III who would have become King after Edward IV's death would History have looked at Richard III in a different light? Henry Tudor would still have most likely made his claim for the Throne but with little to no York Princesses to promise to marry and end the Cousins War, then King (Teddy) Warwick could have actually been. Or King George and Queen Isabella

Jane Shore is another example of why the wars of the roses is my favourite period of history. There are so many fascinating women, from all walks of life, who influenced and actively intervened/participated in the politics of the time. Thank you for presenting this video, which was both interesting and informative.

Thanks for a good story of Jane Shore , ive read about her before and i have to say they made her out to be a whore of Edward 4 and very little else so it was nice to know she was a different person to what id read. I enjoy hearing stories about women from history especially medieval time's
