I agree with Jang's sentiment - the adult lineup really feels like it is triyng to pull in people who are not fans of Lego currently. What brought me back to lego actually was the speed champion line-up from 2 years ago. I think thats a big miss from Lego not realizing the pull those more affordable sets have to do adults on the fence. Not all of us have $300 to casually drop on these sets!!
@vjl3233 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Speed Champions would have been perfect to include - less pricey. I don't think the SW helmets were a good inclusion as the "cheap" stuff. Especially with the price differences between 2 models that look the same size [but one has 2x the piece count]. Since the Daily Bugle was not marketed as an 18+ [right?], then the Speed Champs could have been included too, no?

I’m surprised the botanicals aren’t in there, would make for another page of lower priced sets and is a good seller I think

Exactly! And they are marketed as 18+ too! Perhaps their low stock status for the US market is why, since it seems this is a US marketed catalog.

I think the biggest issue I have with most of the 18+ / adults welcome stuff is the assumption that because we're older we have huge display cases and shelves available for massive models. I'm 38 and live in a 1 bedroom flat with a TV shelf and a bookcase full of dvds. Not all of us have room for the big stuff. Lego need some more diorama/display things. Instead of a bunch that are 2ft tall or 2ft wide etc

I agree that the Daily Bugle, while a nice large display piece, does appear a bit too kiddiefied in its default build with the Spideywebs and minifigs crawling all over it. I’m also surprised they didn’t include a modular building like Assembly Square to demonstrate some detailed architectural design in a minifig size, or even sets like Barracuda Bay and Medieval Blacksmith that would appeal to many adults who loved those themes when we were kids.

LEGO finally acknowledges the truth: They are on the hunt for the deep pocket of adults since hardly any parents will buy $200+ sets for children. Also the lie is still strong: Get creative with display sets which are built only once and never touched again?

Obviously I played with Lego as a child, but I hadn't really touched Lego in over 30 years until about one month ago. Ironically, what got me back into it was a scam website ad on Facebook selling under-priced Star Wars sets. I didn't buy from the scam website, but it did make me aware of Lego again and I started skulking around legit websites considering my 'first' purchase.

A very nice booklet but as others have commented, a huge missed opportunity by not including some less expensive sets. If a newbie starts with the map or even some of the art sets they will only remember the pain of dealing with the small pieces. Also why again feature the colosseum? It is all beige and very large. Some of the midsized architecture sets would have more appeal. It just needed a few more pages featuring some of these smaller adult oriented sets.

If lego wants to market to non-Afol buyers they will have to slash those prices in half if not more. I love lego and use my kids as an excuse to collect to my wife's annoyance but, anything over $150, most adults won't consider. The millennium falcon is two PS5s or Series Xs, a new couch or a few power tools, or a half of some peoples mortgages.

@curtisjordan53033 жыл бұрын
exactly. The UCS Falcon is half my mortgage. For most Afols there is little or no play value to these display sets. I buy sets to play with my kids or get parts for MOCs that my kids and I play with.

I'm an adult with money and don't care for these sets. I only buy old sets from my childhood on Bricklink but they are expensive. Lego should remake more detailed versions of their old sets like they did with Barracuda Bay and the Black Smith or the Bricklink Castle in the Forest. I would buy those any day. The stuff in this catalog just looks pretentious. it's not for me.

@vjl3233 жыл бұрын
For getting new adults in, I think a more "standard" looking 18+ train should have been included. They don't have one yet, but the Crocodile looks quite unique and in the US [where this catalog is marketed], I think people would not understand it was a train.
@johnperiwinkle99123 жыл бұрын
The catalogue is great, but I wish there were more, smaller sets. It feels like there's just so many more large, expensive sets than there used to be, and not as many good adult-focused cheaper sets. 17:15 32x32 baseplate is 1024 studs. That is 2.8 (2933 / 1024) bases making the set of 4 impossible from a single set. The vast number in pieces must be the color gradients at that point. Somewhere in the design and budgeting phase Lego decided it was more economical to do that instead of releasing four individual sets or lump sum into one set with necessary pieces.

the things that would make me purchase lego again: themes I find interesting. this includes sci-fi that isn't star wars something original, no license themes. I'm very ok with bringing back old themes as long as they're not modernized good exterior detail and plenty of usable space inside. no action features, or at least make them optional no stickers. good print quality, unscratched window pieces, no crazy colors, no breaking parts most of all, lower the prices already, esp in the eu. there's a lego factory in this country, I don't have to pay shipping fees in theory, yet somehow it's the most expensive here.

your notes are on point. If I may add mine to what you already said, - Botanical is probably the best way back into lego (they are well within entry price), they would work almost at every house hold and they are easy to build and they left it out!!! - All the sets needed to show scale much better (either dimensions or next to something so you can actually see how big it is) - Spider-man set should not have been included (the set is very debatable even in AFOL circles) and replaced by one of the modular buildings (police station, ...) - Should have included a lot more reasonable entry set prices. It is very hard to imagine a non-lego fan shelling out 300$+ for The bugle (this will bring back PTSD of how lego is still an expensive toy that many cannot afford even as adults). You can get a Nintendo Switch or a cell phone for that amount! - I would have definitely not included any (maybe just one) of the art works (those sets are sooo boring and tedious to build), if were a non-lego person and got this as my first set, I would have hated my self and probably threw it out and not finished it from all those 1x1s.
