Barry suffered one of the cruellest deaths and lives in the show. He wasn't malicious really, he hated Pat for her role in ending his marriage and his Dad's death but he didn't do anything worse than that. But his fate was to be cucked, have his wife and child leave him, his Dad die, have a nervous breakdown, be tricked into thinking he'd found love again then have his heart torn out, be body shamed, mortally wounded and his last view was of the woman he thought loved him cruelly mocking him as he dies. And she got away with it too. He deserved something better, he deserved justice.

I actually feel bad for Barry. He got told by his love of his life and wife that she doesn't love him and that he doesn't have a heart and that his relationship with Janine was fake. He then gets called a doormat and he even tries to be kind and save the relationship. Janine then proceeds to violently push Barry which she didn't realise was that there was a cliff behind Barry and then watches Barry falling down the cliff and just staring and not doing anything to help. Barry even asks her to help him but she refuses and lets him die a cruel death. She then pretends that Barry is out and she is at home when she gets a call in which the person asks to speak to Barry. Have you seen the alternative ending though? In the alternative ending, if the actor for Barry didn't quit EastEnders, he would have lived and Janine would have died. They even still have records that they recorded that scene except it was only modified when they were alerted the actor for Barry was quitting and so they had to kill off the character.
