I don’t care how good a musician he was! So was R. Kelly, and he’s in jail because being a “good musician” it doesn’t make up for any kind of abuse!! She did ruin his life after 1993 with that movie. He was living life, touring, clean and sober. That dramatized, exaggerated, inaccurate loosely based on Tina's book movie came out and ruined Ike's life as he knew it from then on. Tina was never a victim. She said so herself. She stayed because she wanted to, needed the exposure, and was committed while she planned her exit from the band. It was business.

@N00faysatallNoCrackersNoneofthatPeckStuff🤢 I don't think Tina was trying to do that when she wrote her book as she said she wanted to put to rest all the Ike and Tina questions from every interview. The movie, on the other hand that was loosely based on her book victimized Tina while villainizing Ike. As a result, it propelled her to mega stardom and ultimately made Ike one of the most hated people in the world.

I worked for the San Diego Sheriff's Department in San Marcos, Ca. Ike lived in town and I'd run into him at Starbucks and 24 Hour Fitness. He was a cool guy and made no effort to hide who he was. After a while, he invited me to his house. We'd sit and drink coffee and talk about music. He was still touring and producing music. He had a home studio and would play me stuff he was working on. It was totally relevant too. He was a cool dude. I went to his house a handful of times, probably taking for granted what a legend I was hanging with. I was working dayshift the day he was found dead at home, such a bummer. I know he had some dark history, but for someone who was there for the birth of rock and roll, I don't think he gets nearly enough credit for his contribution.

Ike was not a complicated man . Married 12 times ,wife abuser ,drug addict,etc Not much different then James Brown when he use to beat Motown's Tammi Terrell. It seems the music industry for years especially in the past allowed female singers to be abused, have known of the abuse and did nothing. Women back then had no supports, resources or ways to protect themselves. If they were in bands and wanted to continue they endured the abuse . No wonder so many of the female stars turned to drugs ,suicide and remained in abusive relationships. With all the trauma they endured back then who was there for them. Even today we have music that degrades women ,promotes drugs and violence. So really we just continuing to produce more Ike Turners. I have no compassion ,empathy for Ike. I don't care if he was a genius ,music legend or rocket scientist. Look at another music genius Phil Spector ,where is he , in jail for murdering a woman , and now hopefully taking his anti-psychotic medication. Its sad because professional sports now has zero tolerance for domestic abuse and players are often suspended,let go or consequences besides the charges. Why can't the entertainment industry and music industry set higher standards.If we do not give our children healthy role models we are continuing the cycle of abuse. Let us hope change can happen.God Bless , Jay Balvin

Ike got married two more times after this interview, I guess he was a sucker for love. I believe him about not being legally married to Tina because their wedding date is never mentioned, and Ike was still legally married to another woman until the 1970s. I don't think he intended his marriage to Tina to be official. He certainly had no intentions on being a faithful husband. However, they still had a common law marriage which is why they still needed a divorce. Also, Ike revealed that Tina's birth name is Martha Nell Bullock. It's strange that this is never mentioned.
@true90skid3 жыл бұрын
Whats strange is that Ike is the ONLY PERSON IN HISTORY TO SAY THAT ANNA MAE REAL NAME IS MARTHA NELL. ZELMA NOR TINA NOR AILEENE NOR ANY OF THOSE PPL THAT GREW UP WITH ANN HAS EVER MENTIONED THE NAME MARTHA NELL. and plz dont mention that fake contract from the 70s with the martha nell signature cuz its fake. 2 autobiographies. Countless of written and filmed in depth interviews, a biopic and Broadway musical. She would have mentioned it at least once in her lifetime. Ike is a liar. This is the same man that said "i never beat Teenuh! Ok i may have slapped her a few times but thats becuz she use to walk around sad and depressed. So when i would smack her it would make her feel bettuh"🙄
@samrindge80423 жыл бұрын
@@true90skid That contract is not fake and there is more than one. Auction houses verify the validity of documents. What did Ike have to gain by lying about her birth name? It's not something salacious. You don't think Tina has possibly lied or exaggerated? Have you seen Tina battered, with burns or whatever to else she claims like singing with a broken jaw? Ike admitted they had fights and that he was wrong for not appreciating her, read his last interview with Jet. Read his book. Many Ikettes and musicians claim they didn't witness violence and have positive things to say about their working experience with Ike. Clearly there is more than one side to the narrative.

@@alabaster193 Her birth name was Martha Nell Bullock. Ike revealed this and Tina's longtime assistant Rhonda Graam confirm it. Apparently, Tina's father named her but her mother didn't like it and called her Ann instead. Sometimes people called her Anna Mae but her birth name was not legally changed. There are documents that were auctioned years ago where Tina signed her name as Martha Nell Turner. You can Google it. I don't know why a journalist never asked her about it. I saw her real birth name on the PBS website when she appeared on series Finding Your Roots. They had a family tree and her name was written as Martha Nell Bullock but then they removed it.
