You are so beautiful. Inside and out. When Fridays come I look forward to receiving that notification from you! Your voice and your soft laughter are so soothing. And Susan, your camera and editing skills are so good! I am so thankful for your videos! I don't always comment but I always watch. Sometimes I rewatch because your videos just make me feel good. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Oh my darling! Where do I begin? First you look so very, very lovely today! And I am extremely thankful you made it through Polar Vortex of 2019. In SE Michigan, we were warned of wind chill up to -50 degrees and I had to scamper around to see if my antifreeze would make it, but it was ok, thank God! All my windows had to be covered and I used thick cardboard to block the heavy winds that whipped the side of my high rise building. Wow! Anyhow, I think this was the funniest and cutest video you have done ever! Do you think your lack of interaction with people helps you to store up funnier things to say? LOL! Anyway, I am so happy for you finding family! This is remarkable! I imagined you with different garb.....and the influence Ireland might have had on your music!!!! You would have melted every heart in your town for sure! Lots of love sweet pea!

This is so exciting, do you feel like a different person now? I would. I have a feeling that if you keep investigating with your family.......you will find more about your father. I hope so, for your sake. So, I'll tune in next week same time and channel to hear more.

Sometimes, we learn so much about our parents later on in life, and realise how brave they actually are. In the 1970’s my mother left me and my siblings due to domestic violence, she was considered a Scarlet woman, and looked down upon. This month is the 40th anniversary of my fathers suicide and she was blamed for that by his family and put through hell by his family. I never quite realised until recently quite how remarkable a person she was. This search is your journey into getting to know her and finding your father. This is going to be an amazing journey for you. Finding about your past is interesting. My great grandmother in the 1940’s owned a boarding house and took in evacuees. My great grandmother on a father’s side was an artist who lived on a boat. I hope you have a great week.

Awesome story Susan. I’m blessed to have the ability to travel a good bit and in my travels both here in the U.S. and aboard I’m constantly reminded of the courage our fore fathers and mothers had. We take so much for granted, but while trekking across the mid west in my air conditioned car doing 75 mph on a paved highway, I often think about the pioneers who did it on foot and in chuck wagons...not knowing what lied ahead for them. During this time when so often we only hear negative things about our amazing country...Im am so proud to be American and so thankful for all the men and women that brought about my freedom, my liberties, my luxuries, my life. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story and I look forward to watching the saga as it unfolds.

Welcome to the Celtic family! I am 60% Irish. My family came from County Antrim and County Kerry. I have had my DNA done through Ancestry and found hundreds of cousins. The Irish famine or the "The Great Hunger" was genocide really; the food was there, but the English wouldn't allow the Irish to have it. They literally tried to wipe out the Irish race through starvation. The greatest areas of Ireland affected were the West and the South. About one million people died and a million more emigrated from Ireland, wiping out 20% to 25% of the population. There are lots of good books I have read on this subject. I know my family Coat of Arms. Erin Go Bragh! (Ireland Forever).

Sweet Thang I, too, am part of that migration chain that began during the Great Hunger. My sweet mother, who loved all things Irish, never got to visit her home land. She grew up hearing many stories that were handed down and she tried her best to pass them along to me and my siblings. I was fortunate enough to visit Ireland the year after she died and I felt an amazing connection to the country. It was so good to hear of Little Poet's discovery and the feelings of pride she has for her brave Irish ancestors. ☘️💚☘️ - Susan in Maryland

It’s amazing how with dna tests and social media we can now find long lost family. My husband was from a German orphanage after the war ,adopted and brought to the states. Years later through dna and FB research found a deceased mother , a deceased brother, a 1/2 brother and sister and other extended family which now he is in touch with after over sixty years .He also found his birth father and more family who didn’t want to meet him and his twin brother. Enjoy this journey .

Happy, Happy Belated Birthday Susan! 🎂 We are beginning to come out of the bitter cold and could be up to sixty degrees for a day. February is a funny month here. Could be snowy, could be mild. My son was born in February and we were in the hospital for four weeks after I gave birth to him and I remember a few very warm days in the eighties. N.Y.C. and Jersey is unpredictable. It's so exciting you have a half brother. It's also exciting that you are Irish. I'm 100 percent Irish and I celebrate big with my grandchildren. I wish you the best of everything in your heritage journey. I have a strong belief in God and always feel he will guide me. You and Desi have a wonderful week. Keep as warm and toasty as you can. xoxo Mary

Hi Susan! I am so happy for you in finding a half-brother! Start with writing him a letter, introducing yourself and tell him about your mother, should he be interested. (Maybe that is why he took a test!) More than likely, he will be thrilled. I am also so happy that you want to know more about your family. We are grateful for each generation that sacrificed so much to gain a better life for themselves and their families. The potato famine was horrible and they made it out!! Learn more & share it with your grandson. It's all about our families and love. ♥

Absolutely fascinating video, Susan! I've been to Ireland twice and have been so moved by the stories of the potato famine and the people travelling to the USA in famine ships in deplorable conditions. Those stories deeply touch me as does yours. I can't wait to watch the rest of your videos on this subject. Well, actually I love watching any of your videos. xoxo

As a genealogist,I’ve so enjoyed finding out the stories of my ancestors. And being able to better understand the impact their life experiences had on them and sometimes on me. Fascinating.

Hi Susan......It was so interesting hearing you talk about your ancestors and where they came from. You must be anxious to meet your half brother. You are now part of a family you never knew you had 😊 It’s very cold here in NJ too. A section of my poor son’s ceiling in the kitchen collapsed today and flooded the entire kitchen. Water in the cabinets, food ruined, sheetrock and insulation all over the floor from a pipe that burst 😫 The water ran downstairs and flooded his laundry room and part of the basement. Thank goodness my grandson got home from school and saw it and called his dad and us. What a mess! He’s waiting for the insurance person to come and see it before he can begin cleaning it up. This cold is very dangerous. I have a feeling I know where I will be tomorrow. He needs a lot of help cleaning everything up☹️ Stay warm and I look forward to hearing more about your long lost family 😍 Hugs, Dolores

Susan, Happy Birthday! You should take a trip to Ireland. I went to Ireland and Scotland for 16 days in 2016. Both countries were absolutely gorgeous. We were on a bus tour and had a wonderful tour guide who told us all about the famine. It wasn't just the pototoes that went bad, it was all the food. Soo many people died. Their pubs are amazing and of course the music is wonderful, especially if there is a dancer clogging. If you do go and want a bus tour please look into the cietours.com. They have been running Irish tours for 90 years. They are based out of Chicago. Everything is included, no having to pay extra for this or that like some companies. Kiss your fur baby for me.

I'm still rooting for Desi to look at the camera... come on, boy, you can do it! Congratulations on getting your Ancestry results and connecting with new family members. My dad came from Apartheid South Africa and I've always been in awe of his bravery -- leaving home with almost nothing, going to medical school in Geneva and learning French at the same time -- but the older I get the more I appreciate the hardships and struggles both he and my mother (came from Nazi Germany) faced. Somehow I became the keeper of the family photos so I am scanning and restoring them and putting everything together in a book for the nieces, nephews and (future) grandbabies. They may not appreciate it now but I think they will someday. All this is to say that I think telling your family's story is great! I read a quote once... something to the effect of each of us being the result of a thousand loves. Isn't that a beautiful thought? Wishing you all the best.

Susan! Wow, sounds like you have a very diverse family tree and big surprises, some really exciting stuff! I want to share something I found out cuz you might not know (few people do) and it might be relevant, that the DNA tests are an educated "guess" and only 50-90% accurate (check the fine print of yours). Just saw a t.v. news story on it, and it was rather shocking (and disappointing). I did 22andme about 1/2 year ago, and from what I know, it was pretty accurate, no surprises, ha. But know that they are not 100% and are more.... "general". Hope this helps. And Happy Birthday to you; make it a Birthday Month, and have a great year ahead!!! Hugs! Stay cozy!

Sorry I missed your special day. Happy Birthday Susan! It's been a crazy week here, weather-wise. Three days ago, it felt like -38C (-36.4F); now it's 0C (32F) and raining! The Maui Moisture Butter sounds divine! I've wanted to do the ancestry test for a very long time, but I don't know what information you receive. I'm adopted, so I find it so intriguing. Did you get told about your half brother by ancestry.com? My friend found out she had an older sister, after her Mom had passed away. She reached out to her, and they are true kindred spirits now! They travel back and forth to see each other. Her sister lives in the same province as me, and I keep in touch with both of them through Facebook. I've met her sister several times. I hope Bill is comfortable, and at peace, Susan. I hope you have a lovely week.Sending my love, and hugs, Sherrey🎀💗🎀

O'Keefe's Lip Repair worked wonders to heal my parched, burning lips when out temps were WAY below zero in Ohio. Combined with Blistex Lip Serum was a quick and amazing result. My lips never felt better. My 2 pet chickens Yvette and Lillian came in for a couple of nights. They had a wonderful time following me around the house. They found where the warm air was blowing in from and sat in front of the heating vent whatever room I was in. They also love admiring themselves when they hopped up on the vanity and primped in front of the bathroom mirror.

WOW...I didn't realize that Ancestry.com could provide such information...I cannot even imagine how you are feeling...!!! I also CANNOT imagine how you take Desi out to do his business in such weather...!!! Will Desi use a "pee-pee pad"...? Being a little boy, I don't know how he could.🤔...I bought some of them to see if Gracie would use them on rainy days and she just looks at it the pad on the floor, and then looks at me as if to say "woman, you are CRAZY if you think I am going to pee and poop on that piece of quilted paper"...LOL...🤪😂. I simply don't see how your skin survives that kind of cold weather, either...We haven't been below 20 degrees here and I am dry and chapped all over...not to mention my stiff joints...!!! Please...PLEASE be careful out in this kind of weather...!!!!!!!!

Wow! thanks for sharing. I love your videos and I think the ancestry ones you plan to do will be fascinating ! We could all write such interesting stories if we only knew our whole ancestry. I too was surprised with my DNA results. I am lucky that my Mother's genealogy has been traced back to 11th century Scotland. My actual maternal grandfather was a Union soldier in the Civil War! I know that sounds impossible but the math and the records prove out. It is all such an unexpected and fascinating journey. Much love to you my friend.

🥳 Happy belated birthday, sweet one! For just a brief second, The Dez DID look directly into the camera! He is such a charmer! Prayers for Bill... and you continue. Difficult days, yet God and His love surround you both. Oh my... what results from THE test! What an emotional journey of knowledge and understanding you are on. Your personal world is expanding at warp speed! I feel honored that you would share your journey with me, and I anxiously await each installment of your unfolding story. I sincerely hope your introduction to your half brother is one that ushers in joy, and peace. Who knows, perhaps, the two of you may come to develop a true, fulfilling relationship. I wish you only the best. -Hugs

I am fascinated by DNA testing ! I like to do that although I know all my roots! However, I thought you are Italian ? Most of Irish people migrated to USA because of famine which was partly artificial and it’s a well known fact that is well researched and documented in history pages! You have an interesting life girl! Your life is full of surprises and that is good, no boredom for you my friend ❤️🌹

Oh Susan. I loved this video. My daughter got me a DNA Ancestry Test for Christmas. I will be taking it this week. I didn’t know it was this in depth. Yes, please share your Ancestry finds with us. I find the subject truly fascinating. You are such a sensitive caring and loving person. I would love knowing more about your lineage. Love you Susan❤️ P.S. Desi is just too darn cute.

Hi Susan:). My great grandparents came from Ireland too! I was handed down a humpback trunk that they had packed all their belongings in when my mother passed years ago. It was full of my treasures and many quilts. Unfortunately it too was ruined in the flood. But I cherished it for many years and I think about it often. How exciting you have found family on ur father’s side! I’m still trying to start from the beginning of ur story but new videos come up in my notifications so I can’t resist-and watch. I have extremely thick hair and I got Covid and lost about 75% of it but it finally all came back. Have a wonderful day with ur precious Desi😊🤗💛🌷

Desi is just too cute. Today, at the end of the video, I had a feeling I knew what he was thinking. He loves you to the moon and back, but he thinks you are talking to Mr. Nobody. He is trying not to be concerned and yet it is troubling him that you are talking to people who aren't in the room. I am really enjoying selecting videos of yours to watch.

Like you, my family (58%) came from Ireland. And you're correct that we fled hardship and faced discrimination. But at least we were given that chance. Today, so many immigrants fleeing poverty and worse are told "no more room at the inn". I implore you to consider our white privilege as you tell your story. Thanks for considering and bless you.

Susan, I was surprised to hear that the DNA test would be able to tell you who your half brother is. I, like you, never knew who my father was. My mother also kept this to herself, and I believed that the man I grew up with was my dad. It wasn't until after their deaths that I found documentation that showed that he was not my biological father. I sent for my birth certificate under the name that I saw on mail addressed to my mom upon my birth and sure enough, the certificate came back with that name. I didn't pursue because I was busy raising kids, etc. Anyway, I thought that the DNA tests showed only your ethnicity and where your roots are. Can you shed more light? And, so glad your results are so positive.

" Our DNA Autosomal test traces a person’s autosomal chromosomes, which contain the segments of DNA the person shares with everyone to whom they’re related to both maternally and paternally side. Your list of matches would include any relative, that has taken our DNA test, from your father's side. " Hi Gabby....the tests not only tells you the regions, but it matches you witheveryonee that shares your DNA. You build family trees...you call or write your matches and quickly...the story comes together. I feel it's a' miracle.

Thinning hair is often a symptom of thyroid changes. Our thyroids often stop producing what they need to produce as we age. When you go in for your annual exam ask to have your thyroid level tested. I'm 68 and on thyroid hormones as well as my husband who is age 74. So this is very common.

One more your a product of your parents love. You have a blank canvas to create the life you want to live. When something doesn't work remove it from your canvas to create again for life. We are not other people's choices or issues. You create a life to live until we are not hear on earth. Your life is a canvas continue to create the life you want to live. If you don't like where your at change it you created the life your living create it again it's your picture. About love we love others this means you are loving. Now if wanting someone to share your life what does he look like, dress, clean, and picture of who he will be create the picture of him. Wisdom is the key to a great women. Again you create inviromemt for a home, marriage, and children. A reflection of all life's ment to be so there life is great like yours. Only a real person will have a relationship with real person. Praying helps. On your brother what if he was never told he was adopted. A lot of family's did this back in those times. Again others choices aren't yours that was there journey don't carry the weight of there life create the life you were ment to live without others issues. Think just for a moment how you wanted your life to be from a child to adult now live the picture you were ment to live. Can't wait till your holding the Keys to your new home. Start looking for that home. Make appointments to look where you want to live. Go see homes. Make this life your best life.

Happy really Belated Birthday my Mom's birthday was in January and she was a beautiful women like you. I found my dad's side of my family on Ansestry.com (sp) a few years ago and it was a mixed blessing some good and some heart breaking. The best thing I did find out was the history of heart disease which I really needed since I had my heart attack and my dad's side has a long history of death due to the same thing the killed my brother and almost took my life. I made this way to long and I am sorry for that anyway love this video and look forward to seeing you and Desi again. Your friend Anna and Bella

You are right to be proud of your ancestors. The potato famine was horendous. A recent episode on Victoria on Masterpiece dealt with it. There is more to the story than just a shortage of food. At the end of the eposode, they gave stats on how many people died, how many emigrated, and how many remained. The numbers were staggering and it prompted me to do some further reading on the subject. Glad to hear you have had some happy reunions with your cousins. Your courage appears to be inherited as it took courage to start your journey.

Wow! What a story! Life is sure full of surprises, isn't it? And a half brother! You know, as I was looking into some family history, I ran across a few older living family members unwilling to discuss the truth. So I think that in your mother's day, certain things were definitely hidden and not talked about. I found some relatives to be totally in denial about things, but I did not push them beyond their place of comfort, because it was just too difficult for them. So I trusted my own instincts and observations. I have not done the DNA Ancestry test, but wow it sure is tempting. My parents divorced when I was 2, and I did know my dad through twice a year visits after I wrote to him as a young girl, but he died just as I was beginning to pursue his story and a deeper adult relationship. I guess we always thought there would be more time, but geographically we were separated and he had his own new family. Please remind us again about how to pursue the DNA information. Just as you described your ancestors, you are more than a survivor! You're an overcomer, and how interesting that at this stage of your life so many things are coming full circle. (That's why every day is exciting, no matter our age.) I am so happy for you, and I know that there are many emotions involved in discovering this new information. Shock and awe, right? Love you so much and look forward to hearing from you every week.
