I love the Bear and the Nightingale, I think since it is a witch story and women were labeled as witches because they tried to get some power for themselves, no surprise it is very often mentioned. Book 2 was great as well and I'm into book 3 and loving it so far.

Let me tell you, I’m 50% through my library version of the house in the cerulean sea, and it has rapidly become one of my most favorite books. With the most endearing characters, and BEAUTIFUL life lessons woven into a moving and relevant overarching plot. What a recommendation.

Yesss I absolutely love the broken earth trilogy. I wasn't even an avid fantasy reader but I was so engrossed in the story. It's such a well done story!

I love the camera you used! And the absolute coziness of this video! ☺️ I’m actually currently on a break from Instagram and Facebook - and I’ve found that once I started this break I was able to get back into reading more and enjoy other activities outside of social media (not that social media is a bad thing! just good to take a step back every now and then ☺️) Wonderful reading wrap up Christy Anne!

In January I read as an audiobook before the coffee gets cold because you recommended and it was such a great read. I have also encountered some life favorites these two months, so I will recommend them to you: - Jane Eyre - The strange and beautiful sorrows of Ava lavender - pet by awkaeke Emezi - the death of Vivek oji by akwaeke emezi - and every morning the way home gets longer and longer

I think you would really enjoy "Burial Rites" by Hannah Kent. It was a incredible book-one of the best I've ever read-and it takes place in Iceland. I guess you could called it historical fiction and its protagonist is Agnes Magnusdottir who was the last person executed in Iceland. My hands were literally trembling by the end! Trivia: the book was the author's debut novel (incredibly mature & restrained writing) and she is from your town of Adelaide! 😁

Oh Burial Rites! I started it but I felt the writing was too callous and dry, maybe it was intended

I’m currently reading The Blackbird Cafe it’s set in a small town of Alabama and its a magical realism piece about a lineage of women in a family who are the only ones to bake a proper Blackbird pie. Along side, Blackbird Cafe, I am reading The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue which is slow pacing but really good.

The sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea is coming out in March and I'm so excited even though it's more of a standalone in the same universe type of book. The positive vibes I got from the first book were astronomical!

If you are interested in more Icelandic books "Names for the Sea" is a gorgeous book about an English Professor who moves their from England with her family after the GFC. Great insight into life there from a foreigner.

Just finished Shadow and Bone trilogy and I really recommend reading these books!! Incredible story, incredible characters especially Nikolay. So charismatic I couldn't believe that he's not real while I was reading. There is also a separate book about him which I'm planning to read❤

I also am reading the Grisha trilogy because of the Shadow and Bone series that's coming out. The first book is pretty decent, it kinda feels like a fantasy soap opera

I also felt very lukewarm about The Bear and the Nightingale when I first read it, but I do have to say the other two novels in the trilogy are sooooo fantastic, so if you feel like you'd want to give the series another try, definitely pick up the sequel!

Ooh The Fifth Season is going on my to-read list right away!! ✨ If you enjoyed Never Split the Difference I can recommend The Like Switch by Jack Schafer! The author was also a former FBI agent and the book revolves around behavioral analysis and communicating with others in various settings. I really enjoyed it!☺️

Cannot wait to hear your opinion on Philip K. Dick! ❤️ I read the first Grisha book and, unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. It was the author's debut book and you can clearly tell by the classic love triangle and other common tropes. By the time Six of Crows came out Leigh Bardugo was a much better writer.
