This man transformed a dull motoring television show. The format was so successful, that it drew 350 million viewers. He is also an excellent narrator. And his farming show has favourable ratings, too. Not to forget his contribution towards the written press.

Thanks to him, and his two colleagues, they made a show about cars very entertaining even to those who weren’t exactly interested in cars in the first place. They are overall very good people with very interesting views and made the show enjoyable and comedic, drawing in a lot of attention

I went to Japan earlier this summer and can confirm that Japanese people love showing off their cars. Even the hybrids had Rays racing wheels.

I went last summer for a 3 week trip, and i think my 4th day in Tokyo, i was eating in a restaurant in Asakusa and in this tiny narrow street i here a familiar sound, a vortec 5.3. I turn my head and its the most pimped out GMT800 suburban i have seen in my life. And thats saying a lot because I live in the LA area and lived thru that era of pimping out the suv. Thag made my day but could barely get any pictures because i wasnt going to run down the street looking like a dumbfuck chasing down a 13 year old suburban just to get a clear photo

@@GlennnD Then you haven't been looking in right places (I know the comment is old). Japan has the biggest car scene in the world if you ask me. Most diverse one if nothing. But that's rapidly changing in past 3-4 years, and pressure on car scene is huge, especially as of this year. Few years later we will be "reading" about it only in history books.

Gigidag77 big difference between a ricer and a tuner. you can buy a full exhaust, real nardi steering wheels, turbo's, pretty much anything there for a quarter of the price it costs in retail, plus most of these parts you would have to ship from specific companys. a ricer just needs to go to "that" isle in advanced auto and he is sorted.

The Japan episode was the highlight of the Motorworld series for me. I'd love to see the Top Gear team (or just Clarkson again) do another similar series.

@@paleoph6168 They were interesting series, but I really hoping to see a more in-depth look at Japanese car culture; Kanjo, touge racing, Wangan racing (and the Midnight Club), Bosozoku, car collecting in general in Japan... there is so much to talk about you could easily fill a series. Top Gear went back there more recently (with Rory Read doing a short feature), but it was just scratching the surface.

can you believe that Jeremy Clarkson was a young man once, when was this video taken, early 90's, but it is good to appreciate the progress he went through to make the best car show in the world, Top Gear. It is sad he was fired, he should have toned up his racism.

Jeremy Clarkson demonstrates here quite clearly that even though Monty Python have finished with their broadcasting ways, the essence of their presentation style is still alive & well on the air in Great Britain. Now, it is virtually impossible for any Brit to do a 'man on the street' presentation without sounding like a bad imitation of Sir David Attenburrough. And now something completely different...

Actually he's always put on a front while on TV; method acting, if you will. Clarkson even admitted once that he'd be a terrible Prime Minister; because "I'm always contradicting myself".

Everytime Clarkson, Hammond or May says something like "grand touring" on top gear it grabs my attention. To think they had no idea how accurately they were foreshadowing the GT, it's just amazing!

Ah, back then when you could change almost everything on your car. Rims, Steering wheel, Keys and most accessoirs and spare parts fit on most car models. Nowadays with all the electronic and sensors, you cannot do anything and every car has its own specific part, so you have to pay more...
