Thanks for the informative video! May I check in why are there so many tickets to collect? Is it not a simple tap and go by one physical pass?

If you only retrieve the regional pass, there's only 2 tickets, one is the physical pass itself and the another is the receipt. The later part of the video show the retrieving of the seat reservation tickets. I have reserved them in advance so i have collected them at the same time. And Yes, after you have the regional pass, you just have to insert it in order to enter the station. Those seat reservation ticket is there for your seat reference and in case the train staff want to check.

Hi, when you buy the regional pass, you will need to specify the "activation date" or "start date of period of use" into the system. And you can't change the date once you exchanged. Hello, I'm reading that for the JR Hokkaido Rail pass, it can't be picked up by the seat reservation machine, but to go to the JR counter instead. Does that mean it must be picked up by the counter with staff?

Hello, and yes. JR systems can be quite different between regions. For JR Hokkaido pass, you can only picked up by the manned counter. I purchased a Sanyo San'in area pass, ordinary car. I received an email confirmation with a reservation # but no QR code. Your helpful video states to scan QR code. Where do you get the QR code? Also I bought area pass through JR West's website. Am I able to make online reservations before I pick up my Sanyo area pass? If so, how? I tried to make reservations but it wants me to pay for the tickets that would be covered under the area pass. Thank you for your help!

Hi, JR West operate slightly difference from JR East when retrieving the pass. You need the following input information: (1) Reservation number (2) Identification number *A 4-digit number you set (3) Credit card *The one used to make the reservation (4) Passport The procedure can be found here - www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/howto/train-reservation/receive/ As for the reservation, i'm waiting for JR reply as im facing the same issue too. No clear instruction on how to use the pass to make reservation. Hopefully they will get back to me. Maybe inputing the same 4-digit number when purchasing the pass will allow it?
