This is Japan’s next NBA hopeful. He is putting on an absolute show in the G League this season.
Meet Yudai Baba, the 6 foot 5 NBA guard who has been inspired by Rui Hachimura and Yuta Watanabe.
We were in Santa Cruz to watch him drop a near 20 piece against the warriors g league team, featuring current and former NBA players. He has an ultra-quick motor. He is lethal in transition and as a slasher. He’s also worked on his 3pt shot tremendously the past few years and has gotten to the point where he is hitting 40% from deep this season.
After missing the past couple of years due to covid, he's made a name for himself across the NBA world recently, first in summer league last year and now with the Dallas Mavericks G League affiliate, the Texas legends. He’s averaging 14 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals a game with very efficient production. He also can be a tenacious defender at times. He’s gone viral because he has some of the craftiest finishes at the rim. So we asked him how he hits those types of shots and this is what he said, jokingly of course.
Yudai is set himself up for success and we can’t wait to witness his journey continue to blossom.
