Hi, I probably need to appreciate for your work introducing our country and culture as a Japanese. I ran into this channel because there was a video that was showing comments on the video when your brothers came over and what they felt about Japan. I watched several videos of yours and thought it may be a good idea to have Japanese people to know what "foreigners" would think of Japan. So, I would like to help translate your videos to Japanese as a volunteer, if you wouldn't mind. Sorry if it's inappropriate me commenting the above suggestion on this video, but let me know if you are interested.

Hi! If you want a Kyoto-like experience minus the crowd plus the tranquility, I would suggest: Koya-san (1+hr away from Osaka) and Miyajima. Koya-san in particular has such a number of temples, shrines, and forestry. Take the World Heritage Ticket to save on transportation.

I think the question asking if the sakura are really blooming right now is related to this article: www.nytimes.com/2018/10/18/world/asia/cherry-blossom-japan-typhoon.html Some trees started blooming in Tokyo in October because of an unusually strong typhoon season, but they were just isolated buds.

i just came back from a trip to osaka. we found both kyoto and nara were pretty crowded, especially around the usual suspects i.e. shrines, temples, castle and palace. todai-ji temple in nara was by far the most crowded spot we visited. after watching a video by simon and martina, we decided to visit otsu and ishiyama, which are only a few minutes away from kyoto by train. we didnt get to do a lot in the one afternoon we were there but they were so nice. they are located by a huge lake (biwa-ko) and river, which is always a big plus in my book. we visited ishiyamadera temple, which was amazing and so peaceful. as we walked around the grounds, most of the time we would have whole spaces to ourselves and only see other people in passing. there was also an amazing restaurant called matsukiya where we got to have omi beef. i preferred it to kobe beef because it wasn't as fatty so you got to taste the meat more. their gozen set menu was great.

HAITAI! I Lived in Okinawa for 3 years! My husband for 5. Please show people outside of Naha! Naha is of course the capitol, and where the flights and cruise ships go, but Okinawa is GORGEOUS up north. Look at a map so you know where all the military bases are.... and avoid those areas. Lol! Nothing wrong with them, but you won’t show people authentic Okinawa if you are within 15 minutes of a base because all the locals will speak English, the food will be American, clothes will be American, you’ll feel like you stepped off the plane in Honolulu instead of Okinawa. Head north and you’ll see the pretty villages and more traditional “Uchinanchu” life.

Seems like a bit of an over-generalization here. Really depends on if you're actually looking, or just glancing around at the areas.

well, Kinkakuji and Ginkakuji (gold and silver pavilon) are a bit crazy, but as soon as you leave such "must see" places, it's ok even Fushimi Inari Taisha is quite empty once you go above the first temple definitely not so crowded as to avoid it

what do you recommend for clothing when going in winter (end of january through early february)? Im from southern california...coldest it gets here is 50F lool. I'll be going to Sapporo for the snow festival. i agree with google maps....only rarely did i have a problem with when i was in the dense city and it kinda went bonkers on me on my way to the capsule hotel in nihonbashi, but 95% of the time its correct and accurate (maybe it was more so my poketwifi and not the app itself). Just keep in mind there are no street names like you see here in the states, you're either going straigh, left, or right lol. Im sure major streets have names but i never saw any street names anywhere...maybe i wasnt looking in the right places.

he ment on daily and weekly basis I have been constatly seeing soo many festivals which are not a holiday type ones but just at evening recent one was tori no ichi which was 2-3 station away from me also the experience is way different so yea always worth to visit any single one

@@Sir1ri A coastal village in Belgium where I have a vacation home has a festival every Saturday. That's one of the few weekly festivals I know, but go to the next village or city and everything included you'll have one every day. Where I'm from in Luxemburg there's a few less, but I think finding one every week should be possible within a 30 km range (that seems like a lot, but I'm from a rural area where the next closest village is ±10 km away). So maybe not quite as much as Japan, but Europe has a lot of festivals too, Nordic and Slavic countries probably have even more than west-Europe.

Kyoto is cliche and overrun. But IMO still worth it. The density of attractions is fantastic. There is always a less overrun plan b if you don't feel like being in crowds. Also, go to the countryside. Arashiyama is also cliche but worth it. And leave the house when it's wet and rainy. Get a bike.
