I understand that having to social life to begin with will be bad hand to work on, but we could change it by searching or creating that friendly social environment ourselves. Workshops, classes, events, there’s far too many way for controlled social settings that facilitate growth. If they truly wanted to have friends and understood by people, then they got to get out from their shell first, for no one will miraculously pull themselves off from their own self without any self-determination.

As a Fun Fact, this comment is not quite wrong. For many Japanese, watching someone's apology press conference on the morning news has a certain entertainment aspect. It is like watching a clip of a US Senator asking a CEO a silly question about TikTok or Facebook at a hearing. There have also been several apology conferences that have been the target of internet user memes. In addition, 2014 spawned many memes about apology conferences, starting with Senator Nonomura. Well..this also means that there were too many scandals then... By the way, if you do an image search for "2014 Kiseki no sedai(奇跡の世代)" you might learn about the many "unique characters” around him. ( "Kiseki no Sedai" means "Miracle Generation" and is based on the anime "Kuroko no Basket".) Sorry my bad Engrish… I just really wanted to share detail tho…

For those who don't understand the part at 3:40 about how could one of LDP's candidate win "too many votes" - in Japanese elections, at least on a local level, there are usually multiple candidates elected to represent a single district, but voters can only cast vote for single one. This means that while the results are fairly proportional between the various political parties, the parties need to predict just the right amount of candidates to nominate - if they nominate too many, their votes will get diluted and they might lose out to parties with less support, that have nevertheless nominated the right amount of candidates. But what can happen even if the party nominates the right amount of candidates is that one of their candidates becomes too popular, taking votes away from their other candidates causing them to lose, while they get way more votes then they needed to get elected. This is what happened in this election. They have moved away from this system for the elections to the House of Representatives on the national level, but everywhere else it is still in practice.
@alokinzna Жыл бұрын
That's a strange voting system. I guess the advantage is if some politicians are really unlikable then voters simply vote them out.
@lazysorcerer Жыл бұрын
@@alokinzna The system they replaced it with for the national elections is equally strange. The parties that formed the government back then all wanted to reform the system, but they did not agree on how to reform it. Some wanted a one district = one representative system like in the UK or USA, other wanted a purely proportional party-based system like in European countries, others wanted to keep the old system, but eliminate gerrymandering (which was rampant). So they came up with a compromise where 60% of the House is elected from one member districts and the remaining 40% is elected from regional districts based on proportional representation between parties.

I honestly believe that Nonomura might have a social or developmental disorder. His behavior and disposition is reminiscent of someone a bit higher up on the ASD spectrum for example. Public freakouts, lack of social awareness, spending large amounts of money on hobbies (3 million on stamps daym), saying inappropriate things and not understanding their reactions etc. Knowing Japan's outlook on mental health, especially during the 20th century it wouldn't be too much of a reach to think that the people in his life possibly overlooked his behavior and just thought "hmm guess he's just a weird guy."
