5:34 reminded me when I broke my Jaw in Niseko back in Feb 2020… just as I was skiing past a stationary guy he Decided to do a 360 spin… have to always try to maintain distancing where possible Now that borders are reopen hope to ski next year and conquer my fears if it hits me…this year went Tokyo to fill up our bellies first and revisit some of our favourite places 😅

Shizuka and the crew truly highlighted the charm and the many amentities of this winter wonderland - the Prince Hotel Resort ! Liked Shizuka's thoughtful descriptions of the various dishes by providing historical background or a sense of what to expect and how to enjoy it . Shizuka - a confident , articulate spokesperson - always manages to endear us with charm and , in this case , sharing her vulnerability on the snowboard, yet making it look easy because of her Canadian prowess on the slopes .

@10:50 - do they prepare the egg in some fashion first, e.g., is it pasteurized? I've read eggs in Japan have less issues with salmonella, etc., so maybe they don't do that. Also, as a Canadian, have you visited the maple syrup industry in Saitama Prefecture to see if they are any challenges to Canada's syrup?
@ShizukaAnderson Жыл бұрын
Yes, all eggs in Japan are carefully pasteurized so they can be eaten raw. Raw egg on rice is a popular daily breakfast food here for many Japanese people! (Don’t knock it til you try it! 😉😛)
@ShizukaAnderson Жыл бұрын
I actually had no idea there was maple syrup being made in Japan at all! 😮 They only sell Canadian maple syrup (only occasionally American) in grocery stores here. Sounds fascinating though- will need to look into it! 🍁

(Asking for a friend:) Suppose you have a longstanding hangup about raw eggs AND you're out of the field of vision of the chefs (and their ultra sharp Japanese steel knives)... Do you think the other floor staff would think "baka gaijin" if one drops some of the beatten egg in the sukiyaky pot instead, or do some people do that? (I think I know the answer... 😄)
@ShizukaAnderson Жыл бұрын
I have never heard of someone doing that before so they will probably be surprised, but I doubt they would stop you! You’re paying for the meal after all 😆😅
@ShizukaAnderson Жыл бұрын
I do recommend giving it a try at least once before you try to cook the egg though! You might be pleasantly surprised 😋😉
