That was a fun one to shoot. Never imagined before that I'd be eating canned food in a restaurant. Looking forward to our next adventure.

Kuma's Kitchen thanks for joining me on this adventure, Kevin! People don’t know that we filmed that a year ago BEFORE we went to Nara to film the Street Food episode there, the one where the deer attacked me and we ate deer poo! 🤣

Great that you shot this... Hope countries where food is wasted due to lack of logistics/cold chain get inspired from this
@KumasKitchen6 жыл бұрын
I like your viewpoint. Yes, far too much precious food is wasted in the world. Canning and/or flash freezing could preserve a lot of food that would otherwise be wasted.

There's a place just like this in Gardena in Los Angeles (but you pick what you want from a menu, and they prepare it from the cans, which line the walls of the restaurant/bar for display). A bit pricy and such a gimmick, lol, but kind of fun, and they always have mini shows going on with small bands or musicians playing. A fun thing to try for those who live in L.A. :)

One thing I noticed about uni in Japan is it was about half the size or smaller than what I would find in California. Is that because they harvest it earlier or because it is a different species? They both had the same color, I've seen it in other countries where it is much more red, and the flavor was just as good, it was just smaller in Japan and also about twice as expensive. Maybe a supply and demand thing as well as a different sized species?

Normally one doesnt eat so many cans in one sitting since each can is loaded with sodium. You need to eat them with white rice otherwise each can is far to rich in flavor on its own.
