As cool as the whole process is, I can't help but think of all the wood that's going to waste (with the rolls-served-on-wood). It'll just end up in the trash, which is a shame.

The surimi used for kamaboko is soft, so it is made by placing it on a plate so that it does not crumble. The board absorbs excess water and keeps it delicious. So this board is not in vain.
