@travisandtracyjacobs6198 Жыл бұрын
I stumbled on your site today. I super entertained. Looks like you love what you do. When you were cutting the outside pieces of mdf, are you measuring Long point to Long point each time? As a fan of log homes and wood, would it be hard to make a coffered ceilings with just raw wood? Would it be a PITA to fill in the holes? I liked just the 2x8 on there. To me it was raw AF. But I get that white or other painted ceilings are more modern to the masses. Thank you for putting this out. I enjoyed it.
@TMPK Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I probably like real wood coffered ceilings better also. I was probably measuring the short points on those outside angles. The 2x8s are a little too raw for me, maybe wrap them the same way in wood 1x6’s and 1x8’s 👍👍

@@TMPK Oh yeah. I didn’t think about just wrapping the studs. 😣 I am starting to learn about crown. Never cut a piece and avoided it as I didn’t want know about it. But then I saw someone with it in their home on Pinterest, it wasn’t painted, maybe a clear coat, it was a little knotty, and it looked awesome-kinda opened my eyes to it and maybe my mind. So now when I see it in videos or homes, I enjoy it. I would rather see it without paint, but thats just preference. It really frames a wall in. I like that. I am watching your Mantel video right now and like this old school music. What is that sander that you are using? Looks like a Dewalt drill with attachment or Mirka?

Is there a trick on how you bend your tape measure into a corner to measure crown and get accurate lengths and are able to cut once without having to trim the boards?
@TMPK3 жыл бұрын
I just push the tape in hard. I go through about a tape a month cause I’m pretty rough on them. Another way would be measure an inch from the corner and make a mark, then measure from the other direction to your mark and add an inch. I’ve been doing this as a career for so long, like 16 years, so I’m pretty good at measuring, writing it down and cutting it right. Thanks! First, I always nail the 2x8s that are touching the ceiling joist, then I can nail the ones that don’t get a joist to the first ones I did, and the corner of the room always has some kind of deadwood for them to hit. Maybe add a few 3 inch screws to the whole thing to make sure everything is secure.

Trying to use low cost materials for cofferd ceiling to make it more affordable, any thoughts on using white foam beam coffered ceiling? Is it effective and actually cheaper as well?

Unfortunately I don’t know anything about foam beams, but with a little research they seem pretty expensive. 😳

Fully finished with paint for 12 in and 8ft long is about 126$, according to them it will be cut to exact measurements and all I have to do is glue and stick it on the ceiling

@@judahryan haha I’ll try to remember that for next time. I didn’t rap this time cause on the barn door I got a copyright flag on that song because apparently when I purchased the royalty free music I didn’t purchase the right to own it. Still confused about that 🤷♂️
