@deepbludreamsАй бұрын
@entropicking6007 the issue is present in the HX CPUs on laptops as far as I'm aware, while not severe as desktop applications, CPU degradation is occurring on these units, it's just that few laptops can wack their CPUs to 200+ watts like the Neo16 and Scar can, thus the delay in said issue occurs at a further out point. Server farms had 13th and 14th gen stuff fail all the way down at 30 watts, nothing in this generation is safe from the issue, at best it can be delayed.
@TabalugaDragonАй бұрын

Thank you Jarrod for this extremely detailed and comprehensive review. It's nice to see how many performance records can be broken just by providing even better cooling to the CPU. Also, the additional airflow with active keyboard cooling helps a lot. The same concept is also available in this year's XMG EVO 15, XMG CORE 15 and XMG FUSION 15, as they all use the same new keyboard with separate cursor keys, 4-row numpad and subtle yet effective air intake. One small clarification (18:25): G-SYNC is also available when NVIDIA Advanced Optimus is enabled. NVIDIA is maintaining a whitelist of games that are allowed to automatically switch the laptop display to the dGPU upon launching the game. Also, regarding Linux support (21:30): TUXEDO is planning to launch this chassis under the name "TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Intel Gen6" in a few weeks, including liquid cooling and full Linux support - the profile switching button will work as well. Meanwhile, if anyone in the audience has *any questions about XMG NEO 16* or any other XMG product, *please reply directly to this comment!* Thank you for your feedback! // Tom

I will NEVER own another tong fang laptop again. The screen had horrible backlight bleed, the keyboard buttons would randomly start sticking and I had to replace the keyboard TWICE over a 2 year period. But the worst problem of all, the power connector came loose and was unable to charge! I literally had to just dump the laptop, it's sitting in my closet collecting dust rn (a eluktronics max 17 laptop w/ a 3070) because I simply got tired of constantly servicing it, and to fix the charging problem would require an entire motherboard replacement. I'm not anti-Chinese tech because I own a lenovo legion laptop and absolutely love it. But these tong fang generic chassis laptops have terrible build quality, despite the great specsheets.

@xmg_ggАй бұрын
Can't comment here except that we never carried the chassis of your "MAX 17" (ID-P). We had samples but didn't go forward with them. The keyboard in this series was a unique SKU that wasn't used on any other models except "MAX 15" (ID-Y) which we didn't carry either. Keyboard damage may come with overheating - those chassis were very slim. Very slim models are especially prone to potential airflow issues when heatsinks clog up with dust. Loose power socket might be an after-effect of mechanical damage at some point. The power sockets are pretty much identical across all Uniwill/TongFang models, and we usually don't have many cases of them coming loose - neither within nor after warranty. On overage, they are more robust than USB-C charging ports. At any rate, please check with your system vendor if there are still any avenues of repair. For what its worth, the build quality of one particular product series (here: ID-Y and ID-P) may not apply identically to other series of the same ODM. // Tom

I would definitely go with the Strix 17 considering much lower price , huge potential and the fact that it s AMD based . As we all know , Intel got some serious problems right now . If i m buying a laptop i plan to use 100 % of the processor , i will not pay the laptop then disable turbo boost to avoid processor failure and use only 60% of laptop's power. I commented on last year's video how it didn't make sense to liquid cool the gpu only and not the cpu when the 4090 is much more efficient and easier to cool than that Intel chip. I'm so glad to see the improvements made this year. It feels like we're getting closer. I couldn't buy this for the display alone. It really should have a better screen. When you're paying so much for a laptop and need to pay, say, an extra $300 for a significantly better display, it is so worth it since that will be less than 10 percent of the price of the machine but be the thing you look at all the time (unless you're connected external of course). I also am not thrilled about the keyboard and trackpad shifted to the left, but so many other laptops do this that I suppose it can be forgiven. But honestly, is anyone asking for a number pad in exchange for having to use the keyboard and trackpad off center and awkwardly for the device's lifespan? Are accountants or gamers/creators buying this thing?
@AsimowildАй бұрын
Get a scar 16 miniled and install, bolt on upgrade.
@xmg_ggАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment this year and last year. 🙂According to our last survey, about 50% of users expect a number pad on 16" laptops and up. Some of them even use number pad keys for gaming in certain games, especially in the MMORPG, RTS and Simulation genres. About the screen: we understand that there is certainly a certain appeal to OLED screens, they also come with some downsides. While glossy screens certainly enjoy a newfound popularity, the amount of customers that tolerate glossy reflections on a laptop still seem to be in the minority, at least in our core market of Germany. OLED screens also commonly have a PWM dimming frequency of only 60Hz which may cause eyestrain, although some more recent screens have increased this frequency to e.g. 960 Hz. To compare, our IPS screens have no PWM flickering at all, they use DC dimming. Anyway, we are keeping an eye on this issue and see if we can source OLED screens or Mini-LED screens with good specs for reasonable prices in the future. Until then, we are aiming to have the best balance in our IPS-type screens in terms of price, weight, brightness, response time and resolution. // Tom
@FoxxFireАй бұрын
@@xmg_gg Wow, what an awesome response! I do understand the importance of margins with electronics. Something that is costing you $10 more results in you having to price the computer an extra $40, for example, in order to remain profitable. And sourcing different displays to give customers an option, especially when you are not buying them in a huge quantity, is quite expensive. Also, gamers may not care much about color accuracy. However, if you were able to pull off a display with a higher color gamut, particularly close to 100 percent coverage of P3, it would be so much more appealing. (The last thing I'll mention is the ports - having a usb c port running at usb 3.2 gen 1 is not acceptable in a laptop of this price. If the usb a port runs at that speed, it would be unfortunate, but okay. But that usb c port really needs to be 10gb/s, at least.) Fastest ram you can config on it is 5600 ... and you're stuck with 32GB or you will need to go lower for 64. You can't spec an AMD cpu... . You have the option of choosing cheaper brand components for nvma and ram ... but the price is still way way way more than what you actually get. With the amount of balls the brand has already dropped up until here i'd rather not overpay for a machine i cannot spec the way most people would want it, but hey they're logo is something different to watch. Nice hype video though.

Crazy lie, i have seen 7200 here. You even gave all overclock options for ram. Buy 5600 hynix ram and overclock it. Even 48gb modules are on market now, just use google
@xmg_ggАй бұрын
2x16GB DDR5-5600 is the official support limit of Intel Core HX series. By the way, the official limit of AMD's adjacent CPU (Dragon Range) is only DDR5-5200 with the same capacity. We support DDR5-5600 at low latency of CL40 (standard is CL46) with Kingston FURY. As I wrote this, I saw that the option to upgrade to Kingston FURY seems to have been missing from the shop configurator in NEO 16 recently. It was present in NEO 17. This is fixed now. On top of this low-latency RAM, you have manual memory tuning via BIOS setup. Many users are running their memory at DDR5-6000 or higher, supposedly stable (your mileage may vary). This can also be done with 64GB RAM to go beyond Intel's DDR5-5200 limit. Component upgrade prices reflect our real-world purchasing prices, plus a bit of margin we need to support our service-level agreements. Not sure which other balls we have dropped, would you care to elaborate? Thank you for your feedback! // Tom

Can you please look into intel failure in laptops. Intel is trying to act like laptops aren’t degrading, but they are. TVB is pushing these 13th and 14th gen intel machines to 1.55v at 5.6ghz in even the most minor loads. Those numbers are okay for a desktop, but are absolutely insane for a laptop. I’ve returned the asus g814jz three times with issues of blue screen out of video memory errors and stuttering in games. I’ve had the one I have now for about 9 months and haven’t had any blue screens, but with these numbers I fear it’s only a matter of time. Even on this laptop I can’t load D4 with settings turned all the way down and frames capped at 60fps without hwinfo lighting up like a Christmas tree with all the thermal throttling… dude it’s so bad and IDK why no one’s talking about it.

@xmg_ggАй бұрын
I understand the grievance, but hear me out: the port selection is related to the number of PCIe lanes provided by the chipset and the total number of ports we have. A laptop with 2x USB-C and 3x USB-A, plus ethernet, card reader and dual SSD slots will have different limitations than a laptop with smaller number of ports. 16 PCIe lanes are dedicated to the dGPU. Some other laptops may only give the dGPU x8 lanes to compensate. Aside from movie production, where you'd often deal with large files on external storage, there are not that many use cases where 5 Gbps of USB 3.2 Gen1 is insufficient. If you need one really fast I/O port, you have the Thunderbolt 4 interface with 40 Gbps. If you need multiple fast I/O ports, you could use a Thunderbolt docking station or portable hub. // Tom

@@xmg_gg thank you for your kind response. Basically, I very much like the laptop and I am about to purchase one of these, I was just "complaining" that it does not have the specs I am used to from other hi-end laptop brands (like Raz...) where you have the min. USB 3.2 Gen2s (10 Gbps), or Thunderbolts (20/40 Gbps), and USB4s (20/40 Gbps). I also understand that I am not some usual Gaming Laptop user, I use these machines as full desktop replacements, so I need a lot of external accessories to attach to it and having 10 Gbps+ speeds on all ports is something I need. For a gamer the 5 Gbps may be enough, I agree. Anyways, as a Raz... laptop user, it was my feeling that there are some minimum standards for 2024 laptops and I felt that min. USB 3.2 Gen2 was one of them. Though after checking some major laptop brands, I also found USB 3.2 Gen1s in some cases, but I also found that at least 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 was present ...

@@_CharlieHarper The 17" version (XMG NEO 17) has USB-A Gen2 on the left side, but is missing the second USB-C port. Those also have USB-A Gen2 on the left side, but missing the second USB-C port, just like our XMG NEO series in 2023.
