I'm suffering from brain overload! I'm not a bullet journal person, but I really enjoy seeing how people create theirs and use them. I'm not a very busy person anymore, and I initially started watching the journaling videos looking for something that would help me keep track of my Bible studies and Scripture reading. I'm using the very generic and cheap spiral bound notebooks for the sermon notes and the Scriptures referenced in the sermons. I also, finally, started to make an index in the front of each notebook and also numbering every page. I have quite a few miscellaneous preachers/teachers I listen to from time to time, and things started getting a bit out of control. Now I am fully engrossed in all of the channels, and I have found myself buying a few things to try out in the new year. I know for sure that bullet journaling is not for me though. I'm afraid I would just sit and stare at an empty journal!
@thedirtygardenerАй бұрын
LOL That is how I started, except it was for gardening and I was using a cheap composition notebook. Three years late and I have more journals than I can keep track of and I’m not sorry. 😂 I would even say you’re ‘journaling’ already, in your spiral notebook. BUJOs are great because they’re versatile and can be as simple or as complex as you want them to be. Give it a go with what you have now. You might surprise yourself. ❤
@winterArtistАй бұрын
@@thedirtygardenerI hear both of you 🤣I started journaling to keep up with school and sort out my identity/ mental health at younger ages. Now that I’m in a calmer season, I didn’t know what to do with my ( now) 8 journals. It’s worth mentioning that journals are customizable. I used to have more dungeons and dragons, but now I have more personal accounts and written prayers. Granted, Jess did a wonderful job of giving us some tools to work with ❤️ how inspiring!

I'm using a page ruler for several years and absolutely love it. I added my key and my mood tracker colors to it. The low bar / high bar habits are great, found them in your videos and have been using them for a couple of months. I started to use score values for the habit levels this months, so I can see how good i'm performing I really appreciate these ideas: - weekly checklist flip out - sketched out roadmap for time frame - project tracker as a matrix
@JashiiCorrinАй бұрын
Glad those ones stuck out for you in particular! 😄💜 and awesome that your page ruler has gotten so much use 👌
@lissah.1925Ай бұрын
Thanks for taking the time put all of these together - I planner in a non-bullet journal, but use the extra grid pages for trackers and such, so I always like to see ideas for what to do with those pages! Right now I'm trying to figure out some kind of... on-going, year-long, exercise tracker layout where I can constantly update what weight amounts I'm using and if I follow my commitment of 2x a week. A few of these gave me some ideas! One of mine I'll share is my S.I.D.E. quest tracker - Something I'll Do Eventually. I got the idea from a teaching conference and thought up the acronym (I mean, the acronym has probably occurred to other ppl before, but I just randomly came to it). Basically it's a list of the things you want to do or buy or read or whatever, but you don't like to put them on your regular to-do lists because you know it's unlikely to happen soon and you feel pressured or guilty for writing them down, then not completing them. This way you have them written as like, future goals, but there's no timeframe to pressure you! I really enjoy looking at the list and it's super satisfying when you complete one. Anyways, loved the video, as always, looking forward to the next one.

What i found out from several months teaching is: I could never stick to bullet journaling, or spend entire month completing each and every goals or complete all habit tracker... But I seem to be able to keep up with my class' lesson plans. I keep updating the student's tasks, and making my teachers journals... So i found out that apparently my bullet journal doesn't have that "TASK" and "ATTENDANCE" aspect to it to force me to open the book. So i might have to create my own life's version of "Lesson Plan" with "Tasks" "Projects" "Quiz" and "Class Test" 😂😂😂 and maybe each month i will have my own personal "report card" section in my journal. Sounds cute, but the thought of having to plan my whole life, let alone 3 months worth of lesson plan😅😅

@JashiiCorrin23 күн бұрын
@@earphbound720 I use a dot grid notebook for mine because I want to make my own layouts (means I have just what I need and none of what I don't) but in terms of a pre-printed planner, it's very much about finding the structure that works best for you. There are a lot of options out there, so it's hard to say, but some questions you could consider are things like: - Do I want a vertical (long columns) or horizontal (low rows) view for each day? - Do I want a week-per-spread or a day-per-page? - Does the paper thickness matter? (Thicker paper meaning less bleed through/ghosting from our pens, typically)

I use sticky notes in my planner for 2 things: - lost items. Like a wanted poster, I write the item out that is missing on a sticky note and put it in the front cover page of my planner. When the item is found, the sticky note is thrown away. I had 2 items with this last year and they are both found now. - big events. Timed limited events (county fair, rock/reptile shows, music concerts) that I think would be fun but may not be within my bandwidth to go, I write down on a sticky note. If it is for within the current month, it goes in the week where I would find it. If it is for a future month, then I put it on that monthly's spread. If I can't muster bandwidth to go, I throw the note away. If I end up going, I transfer the information and hard write it in my planner as memory keeping.

I'm coming up on needing a new planner again, and in the face of once again not finding a single planner that works for me without forking over $50 or more for something that will end up being very cumbersome, I am once again considering the option of "what if I just do it all myself". The main and only problem with this is that my planner basically functions as a tool to keep me focused, motivated, and organized, and if keeping the tool in existence requires all those things, then we can run into a problem. I lost steam last time I tried this and suddenly found myself needing a planner but not having one, nor having the motivation to put it together again. It's why I spent the money on an expensive one the last two years. But I'm a different person than I was a few years ago, and I think this could work this time.
