I could swear Jason has told this story before but said that it was specifically "The Phone Message" episode, where George tries to switch the woman's answering machine tape, that he thought no one would do that, but Larry said he did. That episode would've been right about at the time he describes.
@laythadrian5705
@laythadrian5705 8 ай бұрын
I was thinking it was that episode. It seemed like the story took place in the second season which eliminates the first five episodes. The Revenge is the 12th episode and episodes 11 and 10 weren’t written by Larry David. So looking at episodes 6-9, the Phone Message is the one which seems the most unrealistic for someone to do and Larry David really did steal a tape out of a girls machine.

That's the most frustrating thing about most of the top level Podcasts. They get a great, amazing, legendary guest. I am super over the moon to finally hear an hour long talk about this person's real life. But instead the entire time the guest is interrupted by the hosts of the podcast. Especially annoying when the hosts of the podcast literally cut a story short the guest was telling because one of the hosts decided to make it all about their life-- then they just completely forget to circle back around to the original story the guest was giving and never finish it. So yes-- LOVE that this podcast by Howie Mandel actually allows the guest to give their full story from start to finish!

I used to teach English to adults in a conversation school where I would teach different people every day and I had to introduce myself several times a week. People would expect a bit of detail. I ended up with a one minute summary that I said over and over. It gets tiresome but I also became good at appreciating that for each person it was their first time hearing it and I should respect their desire to hear it.

'Fly on the Wall' with David Spade and Dana and 'Conan' with Sona and Matt are the worst criminals of this behavior. Most guests never get a chance to actually finish any story they are telling because the hosts inevitably derail the conversation into something about their own lives. Then because of their ADHD behavior as hosts they completely forget about the original story being told by the guest and just move onto some other topic and the listener is left never knowing the end of the story the guest of the episode was telling.

So I’d watch it to kill time until the 8:00 PM shows started and it was the funniest sitcom I had ever seen in my life. Just the insane scenarios that kept escalating until a big pay off at the end of the episode that tied everything together was hysterical. I really liked that it was kind of over the top. It was like the live action sitcom equivalent of a good Loony Tunes short with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck.

yeah, salty to say the least…Jerry and Larry were a team, and they collaborated. Larry (as mentioned in this part of the interview) sucked big time at stand up, and was barely recognized for his efforts @SNL…so, Jerry shows up, they start working together on this idea, and the immediate success it’s just a fluke for Jerry? as in that’s gold Jerry, gold! Don’t think so.

I always felt Jason should have gotten an Emmy for his work on Seinfcostar. He frequently equaled or exceeded the performances of his costars.

Jason she’s right, “the revenge episode” is season 2 the 13 episode season when you get fired and just go back like it never happened, Larry did that while working for SNL, Kenny Kramer told him to do that

It was "The Phone Message", the fourth episode of the second season (the first season only had 5 episodes). Larry Charles had written a controversial script with a lot of handgun humor, but after the table read, the cast was deeply uncomfortable, with the script finally being pulled by director Tom Cherones because there wasn't enough humor to balance the darker subject matter. Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David subsequently (and rapidly) wrote a new episode involving George trying to switch out the cassette tape on a woman's answering machine. Jason Alexander considered this abnormal behavior to be too outrageous and told Larry David, who admitted that he once did this. Larry David had written a sketch on "Saturday Night Live" that never made it to broadcast, so he quickly recycled this central plot point and built the rest of the script from there.

This comment is directed at Jason Alexander, specifically. You've stated on multiple occasions that you realized George Costanza was essentially Larry David and that you should go back and determine in which episode that occurred. You've also stated that it was in the first 7-9 episodes. In that assumption, you were correct. Episode 9, titled "The Phone Message", has your character sneaking into a girlfriend's apartment to delete a message. This sounds exactly like Larry David, whom you confronted when you could not understand George's motives. I hope this solves your conundrum.
