He wanted to play baseball, that was his passion. He was playing football because his dad saw him as a meal ticket. The kid was caught in a trap and resented it, his body language through the whole show indicated he did not want to play football and did not want to be there.

Sorry this is 9 months late, but I agree soooo much. Right now Malik is lost. I think he is a competitor but he doesn’t love football enough to fully commit at the college level. His dad said 16 or 17 year old kids don’t get to make decisions in his household, but the decision between football or baseball should have been Malik’s decision. He easily could have received a scholarship for baseball with his athleticism. He will never make $ playing football. His education is messed up bc he has gone back and forth to different schools he never wanted to be at in the first place. But the saddest part is you can tell the kid’s soul is crushed. FSU fans bullied him when he left. Constant criticism at Indy and something is wrong at Nebraska if they aren’t playing him. The father pushed his his son to try and live out his own dream and that selfishness is killing his son’s success and spirit.

If his dad was smart, he would’ve let him play baseball. Longer road to the pros yes, but holy shit the payoff would’ve been HUGE

I think he did have the passion for football and truly loved the sport but, when he didn't have freedom to do what he wanted thats where it screwed him. When his dad stepped in and was like "no you're going to do what I tell you to do because I know what's best for you" that's where it messed with Malik. If he had his freedom to do what he wanted he probably still would've chosen football but, been happy at least with being able to make the decisions for him. If you saw on the show you see his dad say "it was MY decision for him to go here, here and, here" and that wasn't good for Malik. He didn't get used to being around one team or get a chance to bond with people. He was being forced into every direction that his dad said to.

Possibly, he seemed to have a disjointed forced relationship with his dad if you believe what you saw in the footage.

I’m doing the same right now. Cancel culture has actually ruined independence college. They were a dominate program with coach brown. He makes one mistake over a text and they blow up everything they built.

@@fredsavage7380 Man I’ve watched that particular season over and over. The one with Buddy ( season 1 is ok ) but my wife is from Independence Kansas. So that’s why I watched it to begin with. I liked Browns style of coaching on field and off. He took that program to another level. I agree this cancel culture BS is going to be the downfall of the whole country

I feel like he did love football but, when he was being pulled so many ways and didn't have a say. So like he didn't get to play baseball and then he was forced to transfer so many times. I think if he had the freedom to do what he wanted he probably wouldn't have gone to Florida State. He probably would've gone somewhere close to home and be successful but, more important happy with him being able to have his freedom and not being told what to do by his dad

A kid from Los Angeles flying out to the middle of no where and putting in time and you guys wonder why he’s pissed? Did you guys see the episode with the “huge town carnival” and the rapper guy they had? I would be so depressed if I ended up in that city. Same for coach. Idk how you could wonder why Malik was Lisa’s coach literally admired he was the most talented but we had to go with the other kid because of his “gut” aka pride. the only coach brown blunder was his mid handling of Malik and let’s all thank the kid for his patience in independence Kansas

this man literally admitted that Malik was a way better option at QB then the 4 other guys but Jay Jones was his favorite quarterback so he played him instead and put Malik back on the practice squad after an amazing performance… coaches who play favorite are the worst kind of coaches

He’s honestly a spoiled brat. Didn’t even seem passionate about football you can tell his dad forced him into it. He even sent him to IMG which tells you his dad has money. Got him the best training. Dude never wanted to be a captain and lead the team. He couldn’t even go to class. Honestly it’s sad to see a kid like him get everything handed to him and still not give it his best effort when there’s kids with more talent and heart that never get a shot.

Maybe he was depressed, you never know. A kid shouldnt be pushed to do something when his heart doesnt want to do it. If he wanted to play baseball that bad, let him fucking play baseball. Isnt your kids happiness more important than his achievements??
@Nick-sr4fe
@Nick-sr4fe 3 жыл бұрын
I mean it’s a mixed situation. How can someone be happy about doing something they never wanted to do. That’s the problem with some parents they force their kids into sports without really asking if they want to play the sport because it can wear a kid down training all the time all through out middle school and high school while doing school work and for him it was worse because he didn’t even stay at the same school during high school. I do think he got everything handed to him but it was more force onto him.

In Season 4 he didn't exhibit the obnoxious behavior he hurt himself with in Season 3. In Season 4, he was far more composed and obviously matured. You're referring to Season 3. Give Malik the credit he deserves for showing some GROWTH.
