Man give JB a coaching job, it’s crazy he doesn’t have one! The only issue is he was televised going off on people, this happens in every university! I played D1 & my coaches went in, but they would do anything for us! People have to stop being so damn sensitive! He isn’t lying about being a youth coach, helicopter parents are in full effect! I had to stop coaching youth & was blessed with the opportunity to coach high school players! Some parents are ruining sports, God forbid that little Timmy gets pushed hard or is expected to attend three practices a week! I just couldn’t do it anymore.

He had issues but he cared about the kids. I liked him more than Buddy. Also, his staff needed thicker skin

I honestly think the reason he was fired from indy was just ridiculous. He honestly cares for the kids, all that yelling and screaming for a football coach is just an everyday thing. I played on a inner city team and I could relate to his coaching style waaay more than buddy. I swear I hated buddy for the shit he yelled at his OC on the last episode of season 2 it was just uncalled for to bring his divorced wife into the argument.

Yep, because if you're actually "real" with someone, you're not telling them everything they may want to hear, but it might be what they NEED to hear. You would think football players and coaches would have a thicker skin, but many don't. So society goes, so does football unfortunately.

I really enjoyed watching JB on Last Chance U. The love and passion he has for these kids is amazing. I didn't like some things with the verbal abuse. Some of it was a little too much. If he could just adjust a little bit that would be great. He needs to be at at a JUCO school doing what he did for Independence so he can save some of these kids lives. I really hope he changes a little bit with the verbal abusing so he can go back to making an impact on these inner city kids. Definitely a JB fan now.

It’s last chance for a reason, those kids have defied most every other form of direction and discipline. Coach JB’s style is spot on at that point in their lives and they either conform to the tough coaching or the go back to the streets, not everyone will make it and that’s just the reality of life like it or not.

What is so likeable about Jason Brown is he talks straight and you know he does care for those kids. 100 percent right you cant save them all if they dont meet you half way then any effort is a waste of time.He is def colour blind and I bet he has a bigger heart than 99 percent of people who work with kids. I wish he was back on netflix he had some real Golden moments in Last chance u. Wish netflix had enough balls to see past the un pc shit he did and put him back on screen

its not that coaching has gone soft, it that certain types of coaching styles are not welcomed, I have been coaching for 25 years all high school level and in my district they would not tolerate that, and its not because it wrong but everybody is afraid about getting sued. I think Coach Brown is a great coach what I like is that he doesn't change for no one, that said I think he is going to have a hard time getting another job, with the current climate I don't think any D 1 school would do it, he could probably land another JUCO job, that said it takes a special person to take egos and make them work together. I wish him the best of luck

True, but don't you think that the staff could have also been better. One assistant said he wasn't there to do bed checks. I'm like dude it's juco and you're a volunteer, you don't have a huge budget. Bed checks suck but it comes with the job.
@olddirtygus

Yes, the staff could have been better, with football the staff has a big influence because if they don’t believe in the head coach’ s vision and plan it is going to be hard for the kids to buy in

i think anyone who’s played ball past pop warner would love to play for a dude like JB. might go over the top sometimes but it seems like the players who buy in would run through a brick wall for that guy. cussing out players heavy might offend some people, but they’re in juco where it’s either succeed or never play again and waste your talent so i think JB is the perfect juco coach.

the man wasnt always perfect in his approach, but he did the impossible with a historically shit team by giving them a reputation worth respecting. had plenty more years left in him as a coach to refine his technique. and you cant doubt his commitment to the kids. i completely understand why he rubs old fashioned people the wrong way but i dont doubt his intentions at all

I agree with JB about so much, but to imply that there wouldn't be nice gorgeous universities without football, I think he's slightly exaggerating the percentage of income to colleges that sports brings in. Much of that money goes back into the programs. Universities have tons of sources of income. Research Harvard endowments, a school with an irrelevant football program, has a gorgeous campus and a nearly limitless financial pool

JB knows his target audience....if he's too soft the players he gets won't respect him and will either try to, or walk all over him. One of the things I learned as a leader in the military is you go in hard, because you can soften up later.....but everyone knows you can be hard. If you go in soft, and then try to be hard, you won't have any credibility later if you have to be hard. No one will take you seriously. The players he gets are guys who either were overlooked and didn't get an offer, or guys who got an offer but not at the school they wanted, or guys who went to the big time teams in D1 and screwed up, usually off the field. He was honest....out of most of the players he had, only 2 came from intact families....a mom AND a dad in the home. Everyone else was raised by a single parent, usually mom, who wasn't that much older than their sons. And of his players, many have criminal records....they have kids already etc.... It's not the same dynamic as in many other programs. Hence the name "Last Chance U".
