Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

TheReddaredevil223 I just have a greater appreciation for Sam's work on the Daily Show. Also, I disagree about Stephen being better than Jon. No one is better at finding the truth inside our current political world. Stephen was good at mocking Republicans, but honestly I never thought he was good at much else (in terms of the larger political scheme of things). Jon held the Democrats accountable, and was not afraid to attack even the most powerful in the party (ie Hillary Clinton early last year, Obama and other Democrats late 2013). Plus, now that Stephen is on a major network, I think Samantha is *much* funnier. And she makes much greater points. Stephen's new show pales in comparison with the work he did on the Colbert Report.

+Moe William But out of a different reason. When Jon took over the show hasn't found a voice yet, no style, the few distinct segments were taken away by Kilborne when he left. Stewart had nothing but maybe the most generic late night comedy show to go on, and he had to build something out of it to his liking. That took time. Noah got everything on a silver platter. The show is established, well known, he could keep most of the segments on it, and there is a specific kind of topic the show covers now. For me the problem with Noah is that he does not stand up to the establishment enough, unlike Stewart, who even after being invited to the White House twice and asked to stop criticising Obama, continued to do so. And who just came out with the moist on the pointy criticism of Hillary Clinton ever on a podcast with David Axlrod. Noah would never do that, he doesn't have the balls to do that, he's just too much of a nice guy for this job.

True, but maybe that is a bit of an issue, since it is so established with certain segments, he may not be able to take them out & replace them with new 1's being the new kid, or he'd be shouted at (I'm not saying he doesn't have any freedom, just maybe not able use all of it for criticism, by fans & exec's), like corden taking over from Fergie who never had any real games, now they've spewed out a million & 1, some good others not so much! Plus there's a lot more competition around, half of which are tds old boys! & on your second point I wholeheartedly agree, but hopefully as he becomes more comfortable & will do that in time

Nick Herb Jason did a field piece for the Daily Show where he went into Iran and pretended to be an American spy while interviewing an Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari. Bahari was later arrested on charges of working with US spies and Jason's field piece was shown as evidence. Bahari has described the prison interrogation as torture. His story was later adapted into the film Rosewater by Jon Stewart.
