To be fair I don't think people in 2021 can have any inkling of what it was like going to football in the late 70s early 80s . The police either did not have a clue or did not care . If you went to Stamford Bridge as a Man City fan you were part of no more than 100 and your chances of making it to the one supporters coach (if there was one ) without a slap was very low and Euston was akin to a trip through Stanley Park at a night game. Chelsea did not need a leader they were all angry men and to be fair West Ham , Spurs, Arsenal , QPR were not much nicer to visit . In fact the London clubs were the last to have segregated away pens . City repaid these clubs by putting their club away coaches as far away from Maine Road as possible to try and deter supporters . People would not understand that we travelled away worrying about if we would make it back home safely . Thankfully it changed and like any fear its great to talk and exaggerate afterwards especially 50 years later and while me and 36 thousand people like to listen Jason can keep helping us remember the bad old days as if they were good .

The crap tatoo was the biggest giveaway, no CFC supporter would have got that no matter what, the Irish accent wasn't such a clue as there were a few Irish lads who used Danny H's & Hickey's coaches and a light skinned Indian looking lad as well....that was probably before Mariner & Frain's time...late 70's early 80's. I don't recall ever seeing any Headhunters cards during that time...that name came up later possibly 1984 or 85.....I retired....too many injuries😁
