Jason, this is the first time I came across one of your videos. I have to honestly say that it is quite refreshing that someone finally has created a testing format that engineers like myself have been dying to see. Please do not change the way you test. It is methodical and I like it quite a bit. You answer the questions that I feel most people think about but no one else reviews. Other peoples reviews are pathetic. They just go over features and no one really puts things to the test like the way you did in this video. I like the way you have all the proper equipment to do measurements which is really cool. Some people might say that the video is too long, I would tell those people to go scratch. it needs to be that long because you are extremely thorough in what you’re doing. This helps people like myself to make an informed decision based on real world results. The only thing that maybe I would add to your test would be cold temperature charging and discharging. This is an important topic because of batteries and it’s the only thing that I did not see you do. Another thing is to test AC efficiency at 25%,50%,75% &100% Load, to see if it met your 85% efficiency target. Keep doing what you’re doing. -Jorge mechanical engineer from NJ

That parasitic drain on the AC inverter is horrific. Have you considered adding parasitic drain to your grading scale? You could combine the AC and DC discharge test and create a separate category for AC and DC parasitic drain. That way you could give a half a point if it meets meets one requirement in either category.
@Jasonoid3 ай бұрын
I appreciate the feedback. I think having a whole point dedicated to capacity is important (half point for each AC and DC capacity). I've considered getting rid of the '24 hour customer service' column since theres not a good way to quantify that per model. I could probably consider a couple other options to replace that, like idle power usage or maybe something else.
@MovingPics20103 ай бұрын
@@Jasonoid I agree that the 24-hour service requirement would be a good candidate for elimination. It's highly subjective. I really enjoy the thoroughness that you apply to reviews. I've been anxious to see a review from you about one of the Dabbsson Power Stations. I'm glad you were impressed. I would be happier if they scored an A+. I, also, give my power station an A-. I give my experience with the company a D. I bought my DBS2300 Plus in Oct. 2023 on sale for $1600 from Amazon. It included a 200S solar panel. Two months later, I realized I had received the DBS2300, not the DBS2300 Plus. Okay, my loss. I looked on the website today, and the same solar kit is on sale for $1219. Another complaint, in my opinion, a major negative is that the DBS2300 Manual has the bare minimum of necessary information. Another negative, I had questions so I called Customer Service and couldn't get any answers. Both times I was told I should send in an email with my questions. Needless to say, I'm unhappy with the company. I'm satisfied with the Power Station. I haven't tested it much, but the little I've used it, I'm satisfied. I bought it because it was advertised as an EV semi-solid state LiFeP04 portable power station. I guess I'll see how truly impressive the station is during hurricane season. I'm thinking about buying another solar panel, but not anything else. Thank you for the very informative and thorough review, Jason. Once again, I'm always impressed with your grading system!

I picked up the main unit plus an expansion battery a while ago and could likely duplicate your results. It has gotten me through two different power outages and is currently in use as a giant “UPS” for my computer and network equipment. I also wanted to see what happened if you connected the EB with the main unit if it would have taken more solar, or limited. If you can have multiple EBs and arrays connected to all of them while you run a load will it take in more solar. That's my current issue with the Delta 2 Max...only 1000W of solar to charge 6kWhs is impossible to do in an average solar day and then you throw in a constant load of 600-1000W and your EBs are hardly helping/doing anything.

Jason, great review. You're the only reviewer that test how much a power station will accept on 12v/24v/36/48v. Super useful information as I use 24v and 48v lifepo4 batteries as my expansions. I find it very odd that Dabbsson only allow ~200w on 24v. I have the DBS3500 and I tested my 48v battery and I briefly get 1200w but it dropped to 400w and stayed there consistently. I must be doing something wrong or my setting is wrong . I will revisit that test and see what I'm doing wrong as you're getting 1200w.

On any station I need to know if it has software that will drop back to grid when battery gets to a level determined by the user. Ecoflows have that (Backup Reserve). It appears Pecron 3600 might (under UPS settings) and that Anker F3800 does at least under certain circumstances (Self consumption mode) . Anker C1000 does not. Although an App Update could change that. So far every time it's being "forwarded to the engineers" it gets lost.

When the units are connected they both charge and discharge together and hold the same state of charge (or try to). It does a pretty good job of keeping them balanced. An idea for a future video: if you're a dude entering the world of solar by getting yourself a little power station like this one, but you want to add to its power storage in as thrifty a way as possible (standalone lifepo4 batteries rather than proprietary add-ons), what are the best approaches? Stuff like, do you charge the battery with solar and then have the battery supply the power station, or would you feed the station with solar and then have that feed the battery? This, of course, might even involve more than just batteries, cables and power stations - what are the pros and cons of different ways of doing this stuff? This misses a few marks for me personally. The mismatch between inverter power and battery capacity is too great to ignore. I get why they're doing it, but less than 85% usable energy is not good. And the idle power draw from the inverter is too great for me. Also, I'm not sure at this point that I'd ever buy another power station with just 10 amps of DC output. And I also think they really missed out on a golden opportunity to add, at the very least, a 10 amp cigarette outlet plug on the stand-alone battery. If that item could output 30 amps DC without an AC inverter, that would be a real advantage.
