My first ever course was, and still is, the Metal Riff Master. Whatever I learned before that was self learned. Prolly a lots of "beginner" stuff that I don't master or even know about. If this course had been available back in April, I would have started here. By the way, The Home Recording Studio Setup Bonus Module would have been useful in the Metal Riff Master Course as well...just a thought...🤔

Thank you for the support with Metal Riff Master! I didn't realize how much of a demand there was for a beginner's course until recently. I'll be covering more on home studio set up though. I also have a blog post that you may find helpful here: www.jasonstallworth.com/home-recording-studio-guide/

Just ordered! I know from the livestream last night that I'm at the proto-beginner stages and need to learn some basic chords/scales first but... I also know from trying this 15+yrs ago (I'm 40 now) that I need something more in the context of the music I like to stay interested. So I figure this course and some basic-basics I found from Bernth and Simon Smith should get me going. If I can't learn metal guitar from you three, I reckon I just can't learn it.

This is great. I'm 50 and finally learning something I've always wanted to. One issue I do have is alternate picking. I keep getting stuck behind the strings? Do you hold your pick at an angle or keep it straight on like normal? Thanks again for the lesson

Glad to hear this helps! Yes, I do cover alternate picking in the course. I also have you implementing these methods in realistic scenarios with riffs and even building up to a full song. You can check it out here: www.jasonstallworth.com/courses/

Always thought I could try to learn myself but without any direction it became clear that it was going to be way harder than I thought. I just purchased your course and am now dusting off my Ibanez that I purchased a few years ago when I first tried to learn. I guess I might need some new strings. What brand/gauge strings do you recommend for a Metal Guitar Apprentice? Thanks!
@jasonstallworth3 жыл бұрын
Awesome and thank you for getting my course! I use Elixir Nanoweb strings, 9-42 but you don’t necessarily have to use those as I know many metal guitarists like heavier strings. I’m glad your Ibanez is going to get some attention now!

Jason, I have about 2 years experience on the guitar, but no metal. i know a bunch of open and barre chords and scale patterns, but I don't know songs. I just improvise and try to improve my techniques. If i buy your course and practice your stuff about an hour a day, how long will it take me to work through your course and be prepared for the Metal Riff course? I know it depends largely on the student, but I'm curious what your estimation is. Is this a week long course, or more like a month long course to really get it down? thank you

Would you have a video already on KZbin or within the Apprentice course that covers rhythm? When following through the Metal Riff Masters course I was able to get to a point for each module to play the riff along with the backing track at the suggested BPM just fine, but when I tried to play the same riff at the requested BPM while following the tabs along with a metronome exclusively I could not get the rhythm right; either too fast or too slow for the metronome.
