Even if The Rewired Soul was a qualified psychiatrist, then his content directly goes against the American Psychological Association's code of ethics. Section 7.3 - Goldwater rule (1973) states: "On occasion psychiatrists are asked for an opinion about an individual who is in the light of public attention...it is unethical for a psychiatrist to offer a professional opinion unless he or she has conducted an examination and has been granted proper authorization for such a statement."

"To me mental health is funny" is so god damn upsetting to me like, my mental health was so bad i wanted to kill myself, i wanted to fucking die Mental health is not funny and acting like it is is DANGEROUS, the more i joked about wanting to die the more i actually did want to die, the more i brushed off my depression, anxiety autism and ptsd the worse they got to the point that i completely burnt out and had to drop out of school, it was so bad that im still not recovered, it was so bad it actually made my autism WORSE Making light of mental health and thinking its funny can get people legitimately killed

as someone still struggling with ocd, depression, adhd, and suicidal thoughts (still recovering from a breakdown rn) i feel you. mental health issues are extreme burdens that make every day feel like absolute hell. calling them 'funny' is just...disgusting beyond words. it's one thing to be someone with these issues calling their own mental health 'funny' as a way of coping with the reality of it (which in itself can be dangerous too if it goes too far and starts feeding negative thoughts instead)--it's another thing entirely to be an outsider looking in, calling it 'funny' like it's something you can point at, brush aside, and have a good fucking chuckle at because of how 'ridiculous' it is. that shit makes people feel like these extremely serious issues are just a fucking joke. something to look at, laugh at, and ignore. infuriating. anyway, hang in there, buddy. we'll make it through this.

I have suspicions about my mental health, i'm pretty sure that at least i used to have something very ugly and sometimes it comes back, it may be paranoia as some of the crap coorelates. I can't reach out, i can't ask for help. I'm trapped on hoping everything will go well and these thoughts and feeling of loosing control, my surroundings being in a super-powerfull being's hands and just praying their intentions are good Luckly, the moments i belive this are small and fewer every time, i'm fine. I promise.

Exactly, that's what bothers me about him.. well, that and one other thing. Like, I went to school for Clinical Psychology and I'm missing ONE class to actually get my Bachelor of science degree in Psych, and it's an unrelated weird history course that my school (ONLY my school too lol) requires for every degree. My point in saying that is twofold. I am educated in the field, and pretty well, frankly; my professors were top notch. And I am also ABSOLUTELY not qualified to actually diagnose someone officially and would absolutely never do so because it's INCREDIBLY unethical. But he *basically* does that and he's literally just making drama content with a fake mental health angle, while publicly claiming that specific people have particular disorders... he's ALL but diagnosing them and he knows it. And frankly, he's often completely wrong about aspects of mental health and addiction. And these are things that anyone who claims to know something about Psych ought to know. So that tells me he's being his knowledge out of proportion. And talking about KZbin drama while pretending to be trying to help people with mental health issues is shady as SHIT. And I didn't just go to school for this stuff, I am also (very) mentally ill myself. I have Borderline, PTSD, and I've struggled w/ eating disorders and am in recovery from a reeeeally intense addiction. So him exploiting mental health and Psych as a field REALLY fucking bothers me. If I was going to have a mental health centered channel, I'd discuss my own issues, discuss *actually* accurate mental health information WITHOUT applying it to random internet-famous people, correcting misinformation, leading people to PROPER treatment options, and things like that. In one of most recent videos he tells addicts to go to the ER if they don't have insurance and that they'll get you 'medically stable,' i.e. they'll detox you. And that is NOT TRUE in many (most, really) emergency rooms. And it's really a bad idea to get someone's hopes up about getting better just to have them try it and be turned away, and probably not in a very kind way... Not good for a fragile drug addict at all. He also gave false information about Suboxone and Naloxone that, in my opinion, could give someone the VERY wrong idea about Naloxone particularly and it could even be pretty dangerous. My point is, if you're not licensed and your going to give advice, for God's sake, you better at LEAST be correct. And the courses thing is such bullshit, he's not even REMOTELY qualified to be teaching courses on mental health. I could go on all day about how unethical and frustrating this dude is. He doesn't know nearly as much as he thinks he does and him focusing on well known people and drama is such a transparent move. It's obviously about views and money, not helping people. If he SOMETIMES mentioned famous people even, I night believe his intentions were good, but it's almost every video. I just can't with this guy. He pisses me off to no end. I'm not even a therapist, Psychologist, or anything and I can still find endless inaccuracies or holes in the information or bad advice, etc. in his videos, and that's BAD.

Exactly. I trained in basic traumatology in the army, but that doesn't really qualify me for anything in the medical field. I have tiny tiny about of training compared to a doctor.

When I first got into my now 2 year relationship, I remember just trying to better myself and have important relationship conversations (about growth, mental health, healing from past trauma, communication, etc.) with my boyfriend. That’s when I stumbled upon this guy’s channel and in a video about relationships he said he can count on one hand how many times him and his long term gf have argued and how arguing is in no way normal. I’m glad I have a freaking brain cell to know that having disagreements and healthy/productive arguments is completely normal because this falsehood could and probably has negatively impacted viewers’ relationships.

Having been in detox and rehab myself, the "preachy, obsessed with mental health, obsessed with the rehab process, obsessed with showing how well they're doing, obsessed with bragging about their clean time and how well they're doing, obsessed with "fixing" other people, 'I'm gonna be real with everybody because it's for the best' but really they're just a bully who picks up instantly on people's insecurities" guy is the _worst_ person to be around when you're in recovery or dealing with a mental illness. They don't actually care about your mental health and sobriety, they just care about manipulating you into thinking they're a great person and giving them attention. I dealt with this guy in detox. I dealt with this guy in rehab. There's always one, and they're always the same. Everything that comes out of their mouth is useless hot air that sounds inspirational or helpful but is really just empty self-flattery. They leech off of the suffering of mentally ill or addicts to get cheap admiration. They get off on being the "best" person in the room. They're master manipulators. They need to feel like they're the one everybody's looking up to, and as soon as you give a hint that you're not buying their shit, they will turn everybody against you. That's what happened to me. It's incredibly toxic.

I am an OT, I did my research for my Masters (it's not called a thesis for that degree and it's smaller than an actual thesis as you're also doing placement but basically it was a systematic review) on peer support workers in mental health (people who's expertise in mental health is their own lived experience of the disorder). What I found suggested it can be very helpful and can actually do a lot your average clinician (who often lacks the personal experience of the disorder people who feel alone and stigmatized might really need) cannot...but people need to stay in their lanes...when clinicians start acting too much like peers (a.k.a. clinicians that do have personal experience with the mental illness start speaking too much from that experience rather than using their clinical brain) and peers act too much like clinicians (a.k.a using their own experiences to make diagnostic and treatment suggestions as if they have spent years looking at research and working clinically instead of that they're just going off their own experience...which might not be one size fits all) it can be very confusing for the patient and create very negative experiences. I would word it as peers do have a very real place in mental health, but just as you'd want your dentist to say in their lane and not try and do heart surgery on you, you want your peer-workers to stay in their lane (and want your psychologist to stay in their lane too).

Laura Athena I think you are mixing up sociopaths with psychopaths. From what I heard, psychopaths usually know what they’re doing is wrong and don’t care, while sociopaths usually try to find a way to explain their actions to themselves. Psychopaths don’t feel guilt while sociopaths might feel guilt, usually just in a different way then a mentally healthy person. I think that’s why people with bpd are compared with sociopaths, because sociopaths are like psychopaths with some more feelings. Although bpd and sociopaths have overlapping symptoms they are different. The are kind of on opposite ends of mental health. While sociopaths feel little empathy and emotion, people with bpd feel too much. At least that’s what I’ve experienced with my sister. Everyone is different and I’m no mental health professional

Hey man, I’m a little late to the party here but I really appreciate your input into the KZbin community to educate people like me that have never heard of or seen the atrocities that many of these people commit online. Seeing these people move and act the way they do online with little to no repercussion for the impact of their negativity on others, manipulating and abusing the platform that pays them and the people that make it all possible, absolutely boils my blood. Keep up the good work, channels like this are the reason I still have faith in the average person, that the truth and reality can still trump the ignorance and toxicity that many are so keen to perpetuate and plagues the internet.
