RACE REPORT - Javelin Sprintdays Round 1 - Blyton Park (Outer)
A lot has changed since we last competed in the Javelin Sprint Series, and with our new look and some other key upgrades, we were feeling confident heading into Round 1.
However, a week earlier, we'd left Blyton Park on a flatbed after suffering multiple auxiliary belt issues, leading to a week of long evenings diagnosing and (mostly) rectifying the fault(s).
To compound matters, our previous race class (J13) only featured two entries for this round, so we'd decided to move up (to J11) for some stiffer competition.
Despite all this, the day was a resounding (and much-needed) success. From the start, the car felt balanced and fast - and we beat our previous lap record (1:15.15) on our very first timed run (1:14.94).
This was good enough to put us P1 in class J11 and we never looked back, continuing to improve throughout the day. Our best overall time (1:12.12) came in controversial circumstances after we were impeded on two consecutive runs - although our next-best (1:13.02) would still have been just enough for the win.
Thanks to Javelin Sprintdays for organising another smooth and enjoyable event and we'll see you all again for Round 2!
RESULT: 1st of 7 in class J11, 25th of 85 overall
