The SG sounds soo funky! Both certainly have original PAFs humbuckers, but sound completely different, not only because of the body shape.

Oh, yes, nice bluesy jam, too.

@TheGargoyleLives The player of course makes a HUGE if not the most difference as well.

That out of phase humbucker sounded good. I may have to get a 3H guitar and try that. (got my strat wired up so any pickup can be out of phase, all 3 can be on at once)

the Z just kills that other amp for clarity of tone. I love mine!

the low frets wer for the large jazz tapewound? strings. im not sure what type of strings they were but they sure were large strings. so they designed the frets to be low for the huge strings!!

@TheGargoyleLives If you get the same exact pots/pickups/wiring, then and only then will they sound the same.

The guy is a 100% right. it's just the law of physics: magnets care about metal, not wood... + the only thing that matters woodwise is solid or hollow. The purpose of a solid body is to vibrate as little as possible, so that the strings retain all the energy and produce the most sustaining and shimmering tone possible, thus, if someone is trying to sell you a guitar because of the tonewood being more "vibrant and resonant", he's talking bollocks
@rgjmce66612 жыл бұрын
@TheGargoyleLives you must be deaf then, although you are right, the player makes the biggest different, the wood makes a difference to tone
@robidone16 жыл бұрын

i wouldnt say les paul failed to renew his endorsment deal, he was going through a divorse and didnt want his soon-to-be ex getting all of the money so he worked out a deal with gibson to hold off on putting his mane on any more guitars until the divorce was finalized.
@TheGargoyleLives12 жыл бұрын
They're both going into two different amps. That's why they sound different not the fucking wood/shape.
@rgjmce66612 жыл бұрын
@TheGargoyleLives les pauls and sgs sound different anyway
@TheGargoyleLives12 жыл бұрын
@rgjmce666 Are you kidding me? Woods makes no difference electrically. ACOUSTICALLY they do. But pickups are magnetic and only care about the strings from the nut to the saddles. Not the woods.

jebus, you can spot the sound of the sg a mile off

What the hell are you talking about???? "SG doesn't have as great tonal qualities as the Les Paul"???? You must be tone deaf to even say that.

dave (the dude on the left) has the worst tone in this vid..
