This is why I prefer Dry/Deadpan humor. If a joke doesn't land, it's alright, because it wasn't something you really committed to. Plus, unless it was an egregious joke, the conversation flow is kept intact regardless of outcome. You'll never get the whole room to laugh, but you'll never get the whole room to groan either. I wish I would have known this in my middle school years. I'm in College and that shit still keeps me up at night sometimes.

Being funny is definitely something you practice in social settings. Even if people don’t think you’re funny . Each time you try , you find what works for you. BUT dont ever laugh at your own jokes or look for validation or tell people that you’re funny (mad corny) , it makes the comedy fall off so bad. be nonchalant and casual.
