He's technically wrong. It's the way the music is written. If he were to read a song written by an American composer the notes would move in a speed for force his breathing to be faster. His accent would disappear becauee of the tempo of the music. If he were presented with sheet music written by a Brit. His accent would remain. Some of the best examples of this are Adelle and that Sam what's his face guy. Their music is written by British composers. This is why when they sing they retain their accents. Phonetics only play a role without sheet music. It's always about who wrote the music and the country they come from. You could even use the Beatles as an example. They never lost their accent when they sang? Why? Music by British composers!
