His reaction actually tells us a lot. He says something like, He had a lot on his mind. This makes me think he was thinking of his dad and he was thinking of the upcoming Fathers Day. His reaction makes me think he turned down his effort level for game 4 and 5 so he could win the series in game 6 on Fathers Day as a tribute to his dad. Think about it. He dominated the first three games. He dominated game 6. He only struggled in games 4 and 5. Now I’m not saying he threw those games. He just didn’t give it his all. And the fact that they had won the first 3 let him know he could beat them if and when he wanted to. So that laugh which is over the top is actually very genuine. Because he knows the only reason Payton looked good in those 3 games was because Jordan was in 2nd gear for those games. When you think of that from Jordan’s perspective it genuinely is that funny.

Keep the comment in it's proper context pls. Payton hated guarding Stockton b/c he couldn't get a reaction out of him. GP thrives on verbal/physical conflict. Jordan reacted cuz he the same way. Stockton is a robot, no reaction whether he winning or losing (see Tim Duncan & Kawhi) It wasn't that Stockton was some MVP level player, he wasn't. He's obviously an all time great. @@rallacewasheed1422 Abdul Rauf also worked Jordan in a regular season game. So what? Rauf was a middling talent that had a career playoff FG% of 37%. In a seven game series against Stockton, Rauf managed to shoot 40%. What an amazing performance. Stockton also "worked" players like Jordan and Pippen off the dribble through his mid-thirties, as he had a very credible first step that no one ever talks about. You can find clips from Stockton in the 1995 season repeatedly taking Jordan to the hole off of straight ISO plays -- no picks. Stockton also outplayed Magic Johnson in their only playoff matchup. Stockton averaged 19.3 points, 16.4 assists 3.4 rebounds and 4 steals over the course of 7 games against Magic and the Lakers in 1988. Magic averaged 18.7 points, 10.3 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1 steal per game in that series. Anyone that watched that series could see that Stockton was the best player on the floor.
