Jam packed with wisdom. What stuck out the most to me was that he doesn't mix with the thought of where he wants the record to be played. Just mix the record to where you think it should feel and let people the people who decide where it will live modify it for those mediums.

This is still probably the best Pensado's Place I've seen. Not only do they talk at length about music, but their discussions when it comes to things like privilege & politics are respectful, informative, and ALWAYS from a friendly place. Guru is an absolute legend. He's incredibly deft at teaching (you can tell he does it often), and you can tell you're getting nothing but his unabashed honesty. Truly a class act.

Some life experiences do come from video games, but, of course, I do get your point. (: Loved this interview with Guru. I'm learning a lot from Pensado's Place. Just discovered your channel and can't wait to dig in deeper. I'm a video game composer and sound effect designer; sound is sound and this all helps me a ton to develop my own technique and ear for audio. Thank you so much!

Guru is a guru of technology, music and life. Great show, definitely one of the best. Love the headphones. Guru, good looking out to those who don't have the budget for full blown studios. This clearly shows you care and want people to be more involved in music who are discouraged and feel they need a big studio to do big things.

There appears to be a typo in the AE400 plugin. Three of the bands have Threshold / Ratio / Attack / Release labels. The fourth one has Threshold / Ratio / Attack / Thresh! Of course, it doesn't affect the sound of what seems to be a very versatile plugin.

I'm glad Dave mentioned the thing about stereo drum tracks because in his ITL, all I saw were stereo tracks in his session, and my first thought was "are ALL these tracks trully stereo or just stereo versions if mono tracks!?". I'm glad it wasn't him that did that... I got out of that habit years ago! Waste of space and processing speed. Great interview!

Dave and Guru what a ffffff'ing episode. I'm so glad Guru had a 2 part episode. How amazing!! Dave would it be too much trouble to post a list of your hardware equipment in your studio? I know it would mean a lot to me and i'm sure it would mean a lot to everyone else to know what sort of Converters, Audio Interface, Dynamics, EQ, etc.. that you use. We know you love your Reverb but I would love to know more about the rest of the equipment. Please please please...and thank thank you thank you!

@MGMNTmjn11 жыл бұрын
you starting to notice that too? I understand its a business, and that, that is what this is about...but yeah, it certainly looks that way...if so...then I guess it wont be an ITL, it'll just be an extended commercial before the interview. Sure would like some tips and tricks using the basic plugs that come with pro tools...or even better...tips and tricks that don't include gear..or advanced techniques with just generic gear..like say...things you can do with 'a compressor', or 'an EQ', etc.

I've been looking for an EQ that does exactly what Dave was doing with the AE400 from McDSP... but I don't think that plugin format will work in FL Studio... Does anyone know of another VST EQ that can do the same thing? I really need that capability in my tool set!

Another thing I dig about Guru, was that he talked english (no ebonics!). Its one thing if your around other people (friends) who talk that way, but when talking to the public talk like your intelligent! Thank you Guru for showing others that it can be done and its not considered selling out.

youre a racist piece of shit
@bw103410 жыл бұрын
Bryan Woods like he has anything to prove to you
@CAlanRobinson10 жыл бұрын
Bryan Woods ok.... so believing that people should speak intelligently is racist? Are you literally insane!? Where did that come from? Yes... Ebonics is its own curse... because it is taught to children and then when they grow up and they don't get the respect they want from the rest of society, they get a chip on their shoulder when it is their own fault for communicating like a fool. All I was saying was that I was glad to see that on top of being talented, Guru also chose NOT to fall into that same stereo type of "black hip hop artist". I know what they say... "when you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the one you hit!" I take it "ignorance" is your language of choice, and my comment left you butt-hurt, huh!? What a cop out. Do you bash other black people for talking proper english? Don't blame the rest of the world just because you were too weak to NOT give in to peer presure when it came to how black people are "supposed" to talk. I am not the racist. ... you are... to yourself.
@aminosal254910 жыл бұрын
C. Alan Robinson I Agree that it is important to speak to people in a way that they can understand, but Ebonics was spawned from the lack of educational funding in impoverished areas, and can even be traced back to Blacks purposely not being taught read and write as slaves. Given thats not a good enough reason in this day and age, however most other races due to their racial history start at an advantage of learning and living. Its like running a hundred meter dash, with hispanics and blacks at the start with whites (European history)(generally) starting at the 50.
@kpgpwi6410 жыл бұрын
C. Alan Robinson assuming that just because someone is black, means that they will not speak intelligently is racist.
