FYI: "Those rings and things you sing about bring them out. It's hard to yell when the barrel's in your mouth." That's a Big verse from that song he had with Tracey Lee. The funny thing is people talk about Jay using Big lines but don't even know what lines were Big's. For the fans back when this came out and he did that, we appreciated it cause most people knew a Biggie or a pac line when he said it. It was always about paying homage and we knew that. Not to mention the fact that other rappers do it too including Cam'Ron who was the one that put out that compilation of when Jay did it cause they were beefing.

Fun fact: Busta Rhymes was offended by that line with his name. He went to high school with Jay Z but they never clicked so Busta automatically took that "animated" line the wrong way and made a diss track. DJ Kay Slay announced it too early or something, I forgot and Busta never dropped it after some consideration. DJ Kay Slay ended their longtime friendship after that because he thought Busta was scared of Jay Z, and Kay Slay was giving a voice to all rappers who were standing up to Jay at the time. Deep Hip Hop politics/history
@DexTVReacts7 ай бұрын
I love the fun facts! Thats crazy, is there any interviews about this? I never heard of Kay Slay, he from NY?
@21street-erfication907 ай бұрын
@DexTVReacts Look up "Busta Rhymes Jay Z diss" Kay Slay died a couple of years ago during the covid years but he was the first DJ that Nas gave 'Ether' to play. He didn’t trust the other NY djs. Kay Slay and Busta eventually peaced it up; which is why just about any traces of that beef has been erased. Kay Slay was Shade45's main DJ and the underground hardcore street dj for Hot 97 in NY. This is like 2002/2003 stuff that was pre-social media. They kept a lid on it but the ones who were listening know the deal...it was almost WW3 with Jay vs Busta even though they battled once in high school. You can easily look up Busta telling that story but inly good words for Jay z.

Shows Busta's growth. He said he was offended at first, but thought about it and laughed to himself thinking "I am animated".. There was never any ill intent intended, so things were quickly smoothed out

In this track, Jay responses to those who call him a biter (Camron dissed him actually call him Biter). So he explained he didn't need it actually and quote Biggie rimes to pay homage. Then he says: "I'm not a biter I'm a writer for myself and others I say a B.I.G. verse I'm only biggin' up my brother Biggin' up my borough I'm big enough to do it I'm that thorough Plus I know my own flow is foolish" Jay-Z is the dopest MC I have never seen in my entire life. He entire discography is based on facts! He tells his own story on every track
