The man was a gift. He spoke of life. it's highs and it's lows. A big piece of me died when I heard he was gone. You the man Ronald Clyde Crosby. The Gypsy song writer, the speaker of the truth, a spirit that will never die. In our sorrow, selfish sorrow, upon your passing, we should be so grateful what you gave us. Love always J J Walker

The first time I saw this video was shortly before Jerry Jeff passed and it brought me to tears to see how much he was suffering, but yet working so hard to give us another gem of a song. Every time I watch it I still feel a sense of loss and beauty that was Jerry Jeff. There have been many singer-songwriters who have given us so much great and heartfelt music, but I bet that any of them would tip their hats to "Ol' Scamp" and say that he was the one who gave them the inspiration to do what they did. Besides my family, Jerry Jeff is my one constant - and will always be. The world was a better place because of this better man!

Robbed of his normal voice, he wanted to get a couple songs down. I was lucky to get to the call. There was a lot to this man.

I only got to work and talk with him in his last year. His well of talent and knowledge was very deep. Viva Terlingua was probably MY first exposure to him. I was a young man about to be discharged from the service. Sometimes you get struck by lightning and are never the same. I was in the Army, stationed in Hawaii around that time. To get to actually WORK and talk with the man is a highlight of my life

I can almost see a young man trying to get out and tell his story of life before it's too late. RIP Buddy!

It's difficult to say goodbye to the songwriters that mentored us through their songs. The voices change with age. But the storytellers remain the same.

JJW was a streetwise prophet. He spoke of life, of humanity, of what truly mattered. His lyrics set my soul at peace. Missing him is selfish but his memory sustains.

Does anyone know if this was the last song Jerry Jeff recorded? If so, what a fitting tribute to his own life. Saw him many times over the years, and always enjoyed his brand of country. RIP Scamp.
