Jay, I'd like you to test the 4 cylinder, just to see if it really is "that bad". The difference in cost is like £25-30k according to this video. The car and experience should be fun enough and special enough that 300bhp (340 with a stage 1 map) is enough to have good fun at a cheaper price point. This, coming from a KZbinr who regularly praises the lesser Boxster/ Cayman. Not everyone has 80k to spend on a V8 and it's running costs.

@ahemgee95423 жыл бұрын
There's a lot more difference than just software between this and the 575 hp version. Also with a supercharged engine, especially a roots type one, you cannot gain the amount of power you suggested just with a map. Changes to the pulley would be required as well as fueling and cooling .

I own a 2019 F-Type V8 and I’ll agree with you. The Porsche is just better engineered and has more history to build on.But the biggest difference is the cost to maintain, insurance etc speaking only where I live. My F-type has been very reliable, fuel consumption is reasonable if you don’t (drive dynamic) all the time. I had a 2009 Aston Martin DB9 I loved it but it was a lover of the garage repair man something I despise when spending a lot of money on cars. So I’ll say the Jag has been a pleasant surprise from a maintenance perspective, and it sounds absolutely amazing in dynamic mode. I think comparing this to a Porsche however is a bit of a reach.

The F type has a few tricks up it’s sleeve which make it a great alternative to a 911. First is the way it moves down the road and the whole package comes together as an experience that defies the numbers. The second is the road/tyre noise which, for long distance or daily use, allows the F to be so much more. It seems a small point but in the 911 there’s no escaping it, where the F can convert itself into a relaxed and quiet drive. Maybe I’m just getting old 😟

Probably the most honest and the best review of P450 out there. At first, I kinda disagreed with some of the things that you said in terms of look of the car. I think it is incredibly..however, you did a very impressive job convincing me to get P450 AWD instead of R...R is little too much for my budget but I also like to have the best possible version. Knowing that P450 is good enough and that it will deliver the trill makes me feel better about my decision. My last sports car was 2001 MR2 Spyder..I haven't tried any other real two door sports car since. When I try P450 AWD, I am sure that I will be blown away. Thanks for this great review!

I’ve been looking at the exact comparison. The Jaguar has an interior that appears to have the same quality and longevity, which is a given when you consider a Porsche. A friend of mine purchased a used Carerra, just outside of the warranty and has had it for a further 3 years. The one thing that he has been most impressed with is the robustness of the interior, and the long intervals between servicing. The depreciation of the Jaguar is the key factor in my decision, but like for like, and money not an issue, then I would choose a Porsche every time. Great review.

I've never really been convinced about the styling of the F Type, it just doesn't stand out at all, but maybe that's a saving grace if you don't want to be noticed and I think they are solidly put together, which has always been the bugbear of Jaguars since time immemorial, although I still think they're a better pre-owned buy because the market still marks them down for historical reasons.

I've got one in white with black rims. My business partner has a 911 GTS. The Porsche is definitely quicker, but the Jag looks *way* better side-by-side. Plus, the Jag feels big and powerful when you put your foot down, and the exhaust note sounds like something between a Mustang and an Aventador: sporty but thick and low. The Porsche feels like a speedy Go-Kart to drive.

Its the most reliable sports car period. I didn't use my 2014's 7 year /100K mile bumper to bumper factory warranty. Not once. Meanwhile, Porsche has 2x the historical maintenance cost of second place trainwreck BMW. Porsches are PUTRID cars, and a 700HP F-Type utterly DECIMATES a triple price GT2RS. Lots of videos showing that, even stock vs stock.

Best value sports GT bar non, at 4years old. Most have done under 20k miles and Jaguar offer an "almost" manufacturers warranty upto 10yr old for around £600/yr. I got the dealer to throw in 2 years, which took some of the sting out of the typical 10% dealer premium. V6 is the sweetspot though. Plenty power for the road but 37mpg on a long run. 25-30mpg local short blast. Feel good factor off the scale.🤣🤣🤣🤣
