I'm from Houston, too. It's crazy how different things were then compared to now. When we were 12 (1982) our folks used to take us to the Sam Houston Coliseum and drop us off to watch wrestling. They say "we'll pick you up around 10 or 10:30." They were always late and we'd just wander around downtown till they found us around midnight. You'd have the police called on you today for that 😂

I was about 9 or 10 years old when this came out and we all loved it and became Kiss fans on the back of it, in the way that children do - we had their names plastered over our books and tried to learn as much as we could about the band members from music magazines. We each had our favourites but everyone wanted to be able to touch their chin with their tongue like Gene Simmons

Definitely a song that was a sign of the times. With disco so big at that moment, a lot of rock bands did this (Stones, Queen) to try and remain relevant.

So, not a member of the Kiss army by any stretch, but to me this was one of their best. To me, this song was their music and their glam campiness finally coalescing into something that made sense. Of course, I get why the average Kiss fan does not like this, and that's cool too, but this is a JAM.

@@scottferrell2806, wrong, Paul played bass in this song. Almost every band member (except Criss and St John) played bass in some songs (Thayer, for example, played bass in some 'Hot in the Shade' songs). Gene didn't play bass even in his solo album. He is a great player though, just don't feel insecure when somebody else plays a bass part.

Saw KISS twice in the 70’s ... once at the Fabulous Forum where Cheap Trick & Peter Frampton opened for KISS. And, Anaheim Stadium where Ted Nugent & Bob Seger opened for them! Both concerts were unbelievable!! Love the song GOD OF THUNDER🩸🩸Ace Frehley’s electric bolts from his guitar 🎉 Confetti falling all over the Forum during ROCK N ROLL ALL NIGHT 😻 BETH by Peter Criss. And definitely can’t forget Uncle Ted zip-lining to the Anaheim stage playing his guitar in a loin cloth!! Those were the days!! Kiss was with Casablanca Records, an American record label owned by Universal Music Group and operated under Republic Records. Under its founder Neil Bogart, Casablanca was most successful during the disco era of the mid to late 1970s. The label currently focuses on dance and electronic music under the direction of Rob Stevenson and Brett Alperowitz. "The Casablanca Singles by KISS...1974-1982" covers KISS' remarkable eight-year stay on Bogart's label, from their very first, "Nothin' to Lose" b/w "Love Theme from KISS", from their self-titled debut to their very first charted 45, "Kissin' Time". The band's subsequent string of hits included "Dressed to Kill"'s live version of "Rock and Roll All Nite" (#12 on Billboard's Hot 100), "Destroyer"'s "Shout It Out Loud" (#31) and the Top 10 ballad "Beth", "Rock And Roll Over"'s "Hard Luck Woman" (#15) and "Calling Dr. Love" (#16), "Love Gun"'s "Christeen Sixteen" (#25), Ace Frehley's solo hit, "New York Groove" (#13) and "Dynasty"'s "I Was Made for Lovin' You" (#11).

Despite their wild makeup, Kiss was one of the most commercial formula rock music bands of them all. Along with a charismatic front man, and spectacular pyrotechnic stage shows. Add in the marketing campaign, you couldn't escape their logo. More like savvy entrepreneurs than musical geniuses. The music is not terrible by any means. Good hard driving rock n roll. Sounds the best when you're 18, and drunk.
