My favorite part of this song is that the “flute solo” is actually a “recorder” solo. As in the obnoxious instruments everybody learned how to play in elementary school and never played again lol. And not only that but it’s played by the Captain himself. If you can find the music video they show him playing it in that. These live shows aren’t always really performed “live” and I guess they just didn’t have a recorder? Or maybe it was in the shop? 😅 As far as I know it’s the best selling song to ever chart on the Billboard 100 with a Recorder solo in it 😆.

Toni wrote this all by her lonesome, with Daryl producing on this, their first album for Casablanca Records, released in Fall 1979 in the US. In fact, she wrote half of the eight songs on their "Make Your Move" album. The duo released four albums for A&M records prior to signing with Neil Bogart's label, finally becoming label mates with KISS! "DTTMOMT" was their second #1 hit, after 1975's Grammy Record of the Year, "Love Will Keep Us Together."

❤Several years ago, I was with my daughter in the Sanford mall, (Florida) with my friend, and walked right past this lady. I told my friend ' omg, that was Tenille !!" The lady turned her head, smiled at me n gave a wink. 😊

The solo that's played at around 4.00 in this is on an instrument called a lyricon, & is played by Tom Scott, from the L.A. Express & occasionally the Blues Brothers Band.

Jam man, I love you and you know I do😘💕💕💕💕, I know you like the smooth music, but when I was a kid listening to this was like getting ready to sit down and listen to the champagne bubbles man, Lawrence Welk on TV with my parents. I wanted some Led Zep, and Rick Derringer! This stuff used to suck when we were kids! I still don't like it, but it was DEFINITELY worth watching just to see you do the Southside shuffle! You GO JAMEL! ROTFLOL 😂🤣😂😆😂

Jamel… love you, man! Have you done a reaction to Sade yet? I’d love to see you react to that beautiful performer and her beautiful songs. She had multiple top 10 hits on Billboard for decades from the 70’s to today. I recommend your first listen to be her first hit single in the U.S.: “Diamond Life”
