You will make a lot better flow on the Y-part if there is short separator wall so that exhaust cant flow to another manifold so easily and istead is more forced to make the bend. This was just tested on my friends SL Black series.

A approximate translation of what was said: 1200 gross HP = 1000 WHP, 1200 gross = 1100 SAE HP/BHP. Sence 2006 model year 1 SAE HP = 1 BHP, and approximately or exactly the same as modern BHP sense 1972. The S550 Mustang have less HP in Europe because of stricter emmision standards and in England initially because of different exhuast header rerouting as well for example.

My first negative comment on your build. I don't want to say this but I have to. I'm concerned you are only using thin wall exhaust tube on the system from the manifold to the turbo. I thought using sch10 wall was the accepted standard? Also, will you have sufficient boost control when only having the waste gate on one bank? It's a twin scroll turbo so if you split the banks with a divider in the collector one bank will never see the waste gate. I don't want to put a downer on it, but I'd rather say something now whilst you have time to do something about it instead of sitting back and later saying "yeah, I thought that might be a problem" Sorry 😔
@JayDontGotThis4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input, I’m not so worried about the tubing but the wastegate position is a concern. I’m making a bracket off the bottom of the turbo flange to hold the turbo weight on the engine. It’s not going twin scroll because as I understand it the firing order on the LS won’t be useful split into 2 banks I’d need to do equal length manifolds which I’m not going to make. I’ve watched plenty of videos where this kind setup works just fine probably not fully optimised like an F1 car but fine for what I need it to do. Realistically I’m going to be more limited by fuel octane and knock because I’m not really interested in trying to run it on race fuel.

Great job Jay, coming along nicely, if you do get boost control issues and creep/spikes, move the waste gate to the turbo side of the Y piece adding a second Y with the gate flow in line with the exhaust direction... I think that was what you were alluding to anyway 👍
@HARDMAN9994 жыл бұрын
I was gonna say what that the Wastegate only expels the pressure from one cylinder bank soooo..... probably have boostcreep issues 🤷♂️🤷♂️

Don't You think you should've put the port for the wastegate in the Y where both banks merge? Seem like it's just going to dump all the exhaust from the right bank and let the left bank do the heavy lifting once it's open. Just an observation, probably wont matter.
@jamesmk1cos4 жыл бұрын
@jaydoontgotthis This first loving the fact your now filming this series as well and looking forward to seeing the outcome. Like already stated there will be an issue with waste gate position. There is a possibility it could work but you have no control over the whole rh bank of exh gas as it is also the shortest manifold run. The collector will create back pressure anyway and in turn you will loose gas through the waste gate off the lh manifold but you will effectively have to open it more and longer to maintain boost control. I think you'll end up gating the gate constantly while the other manifold is creating boost. The angle of the pipe is perfect for flow I would have considered adding 3 pipes in the collector and having waste gate off of there or as close to that as possible room allowing of course. This is only my opinion but if I can say anything look at it as an internal gate turbo there in the housing you can't get any closer to the turbo if you tried hope this helps in some way and good luck with the build. 👍

Jay, I'm happy for you mate the turbo was the only thing holding you back. Quick question, why did you decide on a divided housing and not build a divided manifold?
@JayDontGotThis4 жыл бұрын
From my limited understanding with the firing order of the LS splitting into 2 banks wouldn’t have the twin scroll effect. I’d have to make equal length manifolds and that’s just not something I want to do or think is necessary looking at how many big power LS’s run a similar setup to this.
