i get speculating is fun but this Tatis shit is the most delusional stuff i've seen from our fanbase lol. not only is tatis just not going anywhere, our farm is weak and Tatis return package would cost an amount we couldn't even come up with and that's without counting in the fact about 24 other teams have a better farm system to play with and send to San Diego than us
@shaneturner18099 сағат бұрын
Normally, I'd agree. However, the Padres are in a bad way with their ownership and, by all reports, want to seriously cut payroll.
@eshep719 сағат бұрын
@low7005 Don't need a good farm if they like a few of our guys. We have desirable pieces for any trade available. When you think that 1500 of approx 5000 minor leaguers (165 max per team) are considered prospects and there is a general consensus top 100 across multiple publications - something isn't trustworthy. Not when a smaller % of them make it than realized. I'm not arguing we have a great farm by any means, but there's plenty of under value in the publications.

Tatis has a full no trade clause. To go from a team who came within a game of taking out dodgers to a last place team would prove he's legally insane. Plus as you say one of worst farm systems. Need to keep our heads out of clouds. David Robertson and Jose quintana and call it an offseason

Your trade is too "video game" lol Any GM giving away that many players, that many prospects and starters in one deal for one player with that contract - would be laughed out the league. Trust that! DO NOT sleep on Lukes in the OF - he has done nothing but hit past few years, and gets over looked because of some stupid stigma of being an "old rookie" - same label given to Jose Batista and Edwin-E, till the Jays took a flyer on them. I said to a friend recently, I can see the Jays trading Bo before the season starts - but these guys are NOT the trade Jays need. FTJ's contract is a trap, and Francis will give you Cease's numbers this year, if not better. Shatkin's always on the hunt for these 3-4th starters with fat contracts - Hello Basshit! The rotation needs a legit #1, and nothing else - Glausman/Berrios are strong #2's (not #1's), Francis as your 4, Basshit as your 5, with Rodriguez and Bloss as your 6-7 starters ready to go. Manoah and Tiederman back around August, if all goes well.
@martinarden97058 сағат бұрын
Let's say we do the trade in the picture. As you said, who catches? Where does Tatis play, given that Springer plays RF? If Tatis plays RF, what happens to Springer? And who fills the Bowden Francis role in the rotation? Do we sign an FA? It doesn't make a lot of sense. I get the idea of taking on payroll from teams that are trying to give it up. I don't get it in this case.

Jays pitching is good enough to seriously compete. Adding Scherz I think could only better an already above average rotation. Francis looks like a potential ace eventually, Gauz, Bass and Berios are all good solid starting pitchers and definitely pitched well enough last season to be a contending team BUT BUT BUT it would not matter if we had Randy Johnson, Roget Clemens and Nolan Ryan in their prime last year because the fact is the Toronto Blue Jays could not provide ANY consistent run support for any pitcher last year. The hitting was pathetic not even beginning to talk about that poor excuse for a bullpen they had! (just why has Ryan Yarbourogh not been resigned BTW)???? They need bats to support our starters and they need arms in the pen to keep the aging starters healthy through 162. This is just fact. Ya gotta lock up Vlad, go get Alonzo. I didn't like giving up that beautiful left handed swing of Horowìtz for a defensive infielder who I promise you will not have better offensive numbers than Spencer this year. I actually think Spencer Horowitz is going to eventually be an All Star in this league. Anyway there it is. We need run producing bats and a much stronger bullpen. If they don't take care of these areas, another 70+ wins again this year might be a little too optimistic I think. They should still be able to handle the White Sox but.......
