Wanted to give u something good, after saving for 8 years I am taking my to sons to Paris. One is graduating high school and one college. As boys sometimes do they have not given me to much info on what they want to see and do. I have spent YEARS watching your travel channel and learned so much to help us, we come from a rural area and have never taken public transport or been to big cities for the most part. In preparation for the trip I wanted them to watch some videos to help them see and understand everything that we will be seeing and doing. Your travel channel is the only one they like out of the many I have tried showing them! We love the great info and hard work u put into each one to help people like us to learn about Paris and help with any anxiety we might have about it, so thank you and keep doing what your doing, it makes a difference!!!

Weird how much of this resonates with me, considering our lives are super different. I fully support the focus on maintenance of current trends and celebrating small wins each step of the way. Something has shifted energy wise on this channel just recently - there’s a special kind of honesty and forward momentum that I am here for. Bless you this year, Jay. Rooting for ya.

Glad to hear the themes of less, focused and high impact are the north stars for the year! Feels like it took all the stress that’s lead you to this and you’ll be so thankful for the struggle on the other side. Keep in mind that most people experience their highest successes in their 40’s because they’ve learned a lot in their younger years and then have figured out how to synthesize and focus, while being very intentional with their energy, which could only happen by going through the rough parts first.

Your description about "lookin for what?" when we open our phone really resonated with me. My New Years resolution is to stay in my own lane, but passively I'm wanting to disconnect from my phone. As for relationships - all I can say is "be yourself." Thanks for being ONE thing that has brought me joy when I open my phone Jay - so you are the exception. Not going anywhere!

Really great honest vlog! I felt so invested in politics this year and was so disappointed when things didn't go my way. Now like you I'm realizing it's important to stop and smell the roses. La Vie est belle!! I've decided to do things for me, health wise and emotionally. I celebrate life. Why not? Also don't think about what you don't want, think about the feeling of having all you do want. It works. 2025 will be a great year. Know it my friend!

Happy New Year Jay (and Cooper)! And thank you for the journal prompts. I am definitely going to take some time to particularly explore the achievements one because I've realized that I tend to always brush those aside and obsess about where I want to be, how I'm not 'there' yet, how much else I need to do, etc.

I think you voiced what many people are feeling for 2025. It feels like a lot of unknowns swirling around us and it is better to focus on the good you’ve already got going on. Thanks for opening up about financial stresses too. My 2025 is goal is to get to 2026 in a better position financially to travel again.

I like the idea to create a list of lifelong accomplishments; they really do add up! Also, what about a list of how I've been a light in this world for others (people and animals), how I have helped them in big or small ways. That list is much longer for me, and I believe it is for you as well. When my life draws to a close, that's all that will matter. I wish you peace, Jay. 💛

I love your non-goal goals. I agree with making less goals. I was looking over my goals from last year and I had made 25 goals! That's crazy! It's no wonder I was so stressed out and depressed all the time. And I ended up only accomplishing two of the goals. This year, I pared it down to 5 goals, the biggest goal and the one I want to achieve the most is that I want to lose 80 pounds and get to a healthy weight. I can't believe I gained 35 pounds last year (stress eating). I made a meal plan for the next month and last week I started getting up an hour earlier each morning to exercise. So far so good. I've already lost 5 lbs which is probably water weight but it's encouraging. My other goal is to get out of debt. My dog had to spend 2 weeks in the emergency hospital early last year which cost $10k (and she ended up getting sick again in August and dying 😢). I put it on a credit card which has a really high interest rate and it's killing me financially. I had to borrow money from my parents to pay my bills last month and I might have to do the same this month. At 40 years old, it's embarrassing having to borrow money from my parents. I'm hoping my Etsy store starts to pick up in sales (I sell digital business forms which aren't very popular during the holidays but sales will pick up as we get closer to tax season) so I can make more money. One of my goals for 2025 is to add 50 more products to my Etsy store and publish 30 medium content books on Amazon KDP to help bring in more money. So, yeah, my main goals this year are health and financial related.

For a long time my main goal was being financially independent so that I could retire early. I achieved all of that (and it was tough) but now I do need new goals, just ones like health, exercise, friends and learning. Just doing 1 productive thing each day, actually.

As a long time ‘people pleaser’ and ‘plate spinner’, I can certainly vouch for learning how to say ‘No’. And also holding onto the knowledge that you don’t have to justify or explain that ‘No’. A simple ‘I can’t do that’ actually is sufficient. And it’s proving so liberating!

I don’t set yearly goals but I do have a long term goal of moving to Europe after retirement. As that is several years down the road, I’m starting with doing research and traveling to various locations to see which country I want to settle in and beginning to downsize and get rid of a lot of “stuff”. We have accumulated a lot of possessions that I would never take with me in a move, so I want to simplify and have it gone.

Well Jay we are darn proud of your citizenship. WOW, what an acomplishment. You're a brave, compassionate and a most generous man to give so much of yourself to those of us following you. And the older we get saying no is sometimes the best decision you can make plus limiting the number of things we 'believe we should be doing'. Keep on keeping on as we're all behind you.

we just got back from Japan, and on new years day, people go to the shrines and temples to offer their wishes for the new year.. not goals, wishes/prayers. They may write them down, or just keep them to themselves.

I would also make a list of why you're not a catch, it may be more helpful, or ask your female friends to anonymously tell you why. In high school, our class did an exercise where everyone wrote down how they perceived other students and it went into a bag anonymously, and the teacher read it out loud, it was very eye opening. We are not always aware of how others perceive us and they're not just come out and tell you.

Focus on paying the bills and generating a livable profit from your business endeavors. When you create a strong financial base other aspects of your life are easier to deal with. Depression is a part of life that we must all learn to live with no matter how successful we become because depression is not only associated with failure. Abstractions such as happiness, love, and satisfaction change with time, place, and circumstances. As is true with all abstractions, they are neither guaranteed nor beyond your reach..

I’m worried about a lot of things but I’m not worried about AI taking away jobs. I think we will find out soon that the latest generation of AI has significant and highly limiting flaws and the improvement necessary for it to be good enough will not be coming soon. That said, it’s prudent to focus on doing things that a machine can’t do. I don’t think an AI can do something like Paris in my Pocket except for a boring unoriginal version.

I kinda was hoping that the first video you would post for 2025 would not be like the last few, which came across as a lot of whining. I realize you are now being sponsored by BetterHelp, and so it would be natural to bring them up when you are video taping. But, it might be better in the long run if you stop doing that and work to create more content like you were producing 2-3 years ago. Keep it positive and provide value to your audience.
