I would say that a very big red flag is sellers posting stock photos from the manufacturer instead of photos of the actual product their are selling. I have fell for that before where the seller ends up selling a product that is too damaged. The other red flag would be sellers announcing a price that is too small for the value of the product (like that $1 guy), then acting offended when someone offers them what they are asking and keep trying to up the price on you when you make an offer. I usually filter those low values because they are either faulty/damaged products, scams that target your wallet or your data, or delusional sellers. Thank you for the video Jay and team.

I won't waste my time with listings that have $1 as the price. May as well not have posted any info or pics. If a person wants to sell something they should make it easy for ppl to make the decision wether they want it or not without any delayed back and forth making everything drawn out and more work than need be. No actual pics is a red flag too, and prices that are too good to be true are red flags too.

When it comes to meeting in public to make the sale - ask to meet someplace with a lot of cameras, like a McDonald's lobby or the local police station. My local police has a designated spot right in front next to the front door where you can meet to do internet sales.

it doesnt matter if you get robbed at a mcdonalds. None of the employees will help defend you and they wont allow you to have camera footage. They will kick you out because mcdonalds is a restaurant not a place for you to do your trade deals.

That intel i5 and gtx1660 comments was really helpful. A work colleague got ripped off by a prebuild company, they don't know much about pc's and got an intel i5 9th gen, 16gb ddr4 and a gtx1050ti. No speeds or anymore details given as to what i5 9th gen on the website 🤦‍♂️

If your patient and willing to drive a decent way you can get some really good deals. I always meetup at Walmart or somewhere with a lot of people. Also if you know about PCs and what to look for, non-working PC can be really good deals. A good bit have simple issues.

I sold a older gaming pc with a Phenom II X4 955, 8gb ram, and an r9 270 last week for $35. Even really old stuff can still have some life left in it. All depends on what you want to use it for.

I cannot tell you how crazy some of the deals are where I live, (Cape Town, South Africa) especially on the FB market. I've seen some of the worst combinations of parts with a price tag that people just pulled out their behinds.

Jay, I'd love to see a video talking about selling and buying high end pcs. Like custom watercooled computers because I built a bunch of watercooled computers and am getting very not good prices because I think people don't understand what a custom loop costs. Jmi idk

I play and work with GTX 1070 Ti in my rig right now, testing it for a week after I repaired it. I play 1440p Fallout 76, it maxes out the framerate (72 FPS cap). It is NOT a bad card!

Same. The problem is tech KZbinrs like Jay lose touch with the common man because they work with high end enthusiast components all the time. The fact of the matter is that most computers since 2017 can run today's games at high speeds and high graphics. Upgrading is not worth it right now unless you want a few more fps or want to show off.

I just sold a system with an i7 8700, 32GB of RAM and a 3060 12GB with 2TB of storage. I did not market it as high end and I sold it for $620. It really helped that the competition in that price range were people that spent a lot of money on cases and RGB, and put turds in them. Think R5 2600X with an RX 580 and 16GB of RAM, marketed like some of these deluded people.

my tip for shopping the used market is to know what you want. if you have time to browse then you have time to do your homework. compare prices online for the lowest and if you find that they're about the same, haggle. depending on what it is, you could (hypothetically) save either $10-50 or 10-50%. for example, i just picked up 2 monitors the other day, asking price was $150. did my homework and they accepted $100. now i got a triple monitor setup that matches perfectly in aesthetics

I know this video is geared more toward people looking to offload their used PC's but there are also many PC flippers and Local builders like myself on these platforms that build PC's for profit. Some folks don't market themselves as such but their prices may appear a bit higher because your paying for their expertise in sourcing the parts, building and testing the machine to make sure it's stable. It's not a bad way to make some side cash as long as your not trying to pull a fast one. I also wanted to comment on the "New Build Comments". I think its fair to call a build new as depending on the parts that are used because GPU's and CPU's have longevity in them and if the rest of the parts used in the system are new it is essentially a new system especially if it's been tested for stability and thermals. The build is technically new because the builder sourced the parts and Built the system and tested it. In my listings I mark which parts are new and used if any so there is no confusion. If it's a build I just cleaned up and tested then yes that would be marked as used.

well put, my build was actually roasted in this video, and i think he is a bit ignorant of the difference between people who are trying to offload their old pc, and people who are selling something with the intent of making a profit.
