Hey Cecil, I have really enjoyed watching your KZbin videos on Jazz guitar ! I would like to compliment you on your outstanding playing and teaching ability. Your diagrams and explanations are excellent. I attended Manhattan School of Music, and have a good understanding of Music Theory. I play guitar, and have been playing for many years. Blues and Rock roots. I have been working on my Jazz playing for some time now. I know most of the chords associated with Jazz and the Bossa Novas, and have a good repertoire of standards. However, my improvisation sounds too scalish to me ? I love the Bebop style of improvising. Your videos have givin' me a new understanding / concept on using more arpeggios, chromatics, enclosures and a little less scale playing. Trying to get a good balance is what I'm after. So, thanks for posting such great educational videos ! Keep up the great work ! Best Wishes, BobbyC

I've been working on this as the mixo dorian blues scale. This was helpful.

I like Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, P Martino, well of course Wes & George B, Conti, Bruno, lots of talent out there., I just listen to some of their recordings for unlimited jazz blues ideas. But you sound great, even on your Strat.

one thing to keep in mind, these awe inspiring lines have their own compositional arc. in a live context they inspire and are inspired by the musical and non-musical environment. He's playing it to isolate a particular musical element. I can only imagine how amazing he sounds when vibing with a live rhythm section combined with his encyclopedic grasp of jazz harmony, melody and rhythm. bottom line: I'd love to see him with a rhythm section like Ron Carter, Roy Haynes, Christian Sands.

Aren’t those Ibanez AS-200’s fantastic? - I see the Blues in a similar fashion: combine Mixolydian with the Blues scale and you get 1-2-b3/3-4-b5-5-6-b7. Use b2-b6-7 in chromatic lines that resolve and that’s all 12 notes.

Ibanez JSM10. I almost got one but I'm not a huge fan of the 335 "long neck" feel
