Great demo. The clarity, string separation, attack, the eq of the punch, the piano-like splash at the beginning of the note, the note bloom, and the overall eq of the Fender '65s did it in all cases for me.

Shocked that I like the Q's best. Best handling of midrange across all positions. Gonna get a pair.

58's were superb, weren't on my radar so thank you! AND you saved me making a mistake with the 65's as they wouldn't suit my axe at all. Thanks again!

I like 65 best (which I have)in all positions except middle, where I preferred the 58s. All sound good though!

Thank you very much for your great job Stamatis Stabos. I've made my decision on it. 65' and Vintage is pure crystal, gold. Pure Fender sound!

Mr Stabos let me say first, GREAT review! Torn between the 65's & 68's. 68's seemed a bite less harsh (via squire and more dynamic than the 65s). The only problem with KZbin is you never get the real nuances that you have to hear in person. That can make a big difference. You play well and you are the one in the room. Which set do you prefer and why? Thanks for a great demo.

Hi, im glad you like the test, both 65/68 neck pickups sound almost the same, the 65 have more clean bright sound the 68 the bridge is more high level, both are great i have used for long time the 68s and i switched again to 65s i find them more fender stantard and if you recording they are fit better in the mix because they sound clear like voicals, and i love the middle pluck sound on 65 with reverb, listen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYqph2mmja2Io7M

@@StamatisStabos Thanks for the insight and video. I can't believe how good the Squire sounded on the video. I was looking for a JM not as my main guitar but to be played for sure. Didn't know how much I'd have to spend to get a great sound. Been looking at a Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster or Pro 2 but that Squire sounded really good on the Video. That or maybe a Vintera will get the job done. Thanks again

What the heck... The Fender V65 set is the only one whose clarity was matched. The Squier bridge was almost humbucker-ish by comparison to it's neck and didn't have *any* of the sparkle that the neck had, and there was a noticeable disparity on the "58 set as well.
@hiroprotagonitis3 жыл бұрын
the squier bridge pup demo definitely helped me remember why i want to change them out in the first place lmao
@StamatisStabos3 жыл бұрын
yes that's because of the ohms the more wire and high ohms on the pickup produce more humbucker-ish sound, the Fender is the more balanced of all
@icepop774 жыл бұрын
I can't believe this, but I like the Pure Vintage pickups the least. The 58's sounded great and warmer than the PV, but I was really surprised with the tone of the Duncan Design pickups (although I feel like they lose some of the attack) which seemed warmer than I had expected. From my speakers, none of them sounded too wildly different one from another.
@StamatisStabos4 жыл бұрын
Yes the pure vintage are the most balanced and the cleanest personally i dont like that they dont have enough mids in middle and bridge position, the squier maybe because they using cheap copper winding wire they are kinda weak in the 58 the q pickups using the pre cbs Fender wiring method with elektrisola heavy formvar awg42 enameled copper wire and sounds more powerfoul, even the wave spectrum recording was bigger from the others

@@StamatisStabos Got a 90 MIJ Jaguar and tried the 65 PV for Jag Pups, they felt very 'generic' and had zero 'Jangle' especially in the middle. I couldn't put the Japanese stock ones back in fast enough. great demo video BTW! Id like to try some others sometime :/

If only Squire didn't modify that bridge pickup. They ruined it. Fender 65 pickups sound the best to my ears.

My preferences were all over the map depending on how you were playing, but overall my favourite was the 58 neck. I like the Duncans better than the Vintage 65’s.
@redeyedbuggers11 күн бұрын
65’s sound the best imo

Someone donate this guy a tuner. All 3 wound strings are sharp.
@StamatisStabosАй бұрын
the reason for the tuning problem was because i swap pickups and needs time the strings and all that to finaly be in tune,but its sound test not a casting for berkeley music school
@doctorfuzzzdirtboxАй бұрын
@@StamatisStabos Nt an excuse, honestly dude. Jazzmasters are damn good at tuning up and once strings have settled from new, they can slack off and be brought to the same pitch with good stability. When we're normalised to western standard intonations, having something sound out of tune will impact our bias of sound quality. You owe it to yourself, in the interest of the time you put into the demos being worth while, to be in tune.
@StamatisStabosАй бұрын
@@doctorfuzzzdirtbox Jazzmasters are damn good at tuning up? first time hearing that, everyone complaining that the bridge plate system shaking barrels trempling and strings pop out, thats one of the reasons that this guitar was a failure when come out, maybe you use master bridge or the bold on bridge
@doctorfuzzzdirtboxАй бұрын
@@StamatisStabos I hear the same thing and I never quite get why. The string pop was initially a problem so now I have a staytrem but I can go from standard to a whacky Sonic Youth tuning and back just fine - even with heavy whammy use. When you dial in the tremolo system and it has a lock on it, it's nearly as good a hard tail. Way better than a strat system.

Man I dont know why people prefer the other pickups because to me the 65 pickups sounded the best on every position. The other pickups sounded bland and muddy lacking any real clarity or brightness what so ever, I think my preference also probably has to do with the fact that I'm a sucker for bright and jangly guitar tones.
@StamatisStabos2 жыл бұрын
Yes its true the 65s sound brighter because the bridge have lower copper wire and the grey bobbin gives more air to the sound, for the story the 65 fender are not made by the real fender its from the CBS era the real jazzmaster pickups are the 58-63, i love both but i use more the 58
