I want to know why you switched to Fuji. For me, I’ve been full Fuji since 2018. I did it for the light weight (bad back), analog feel (I’m 53 and trained on film Nikons) and the JPEGS. Fuji color is insane. And once I went Fuji, I never looked back. I shoot full time headshots and the (new) 56 is pretty much welded to my camera, will occasionally use my 33 1.4 in studio. I use my X100V as a backup and for family shoots. I LOVE Fuji. Want the 18mm next. The new lenses are INCREDIBLE. But John, I’m pretty bummed about the autofocus being so behind the competition and how the last firmware really threw a wrench in the works. Any idea or word on if they are going to fix it in the XT5?
@SummersSnaps2 жыл бұрын
My wedding kit for 2023 comprises of the 16/1.4, 23/2, 50/2 and 90/2. For special shots the IBELUX 40/f0.85. Currently XT4 but moving to XH2S (especially after f/w 3.00). I too have a money maker harness, but of late I have found myself ditching it. I find that only a few moments in the day are high pressure that I need instant different focal lengths, for the majority of the day I feel one camera in my hand (with nothing expensive dangling off me!) feels more freeing and allows me to squat or fake different perspective shots. It feels nice to simply put a shoulder bag down momentarily and adopt different positions, feel lighter etc, it's something I've come to appreciate of late. I'm sure you'll love the XF16/1.4 but I'm not sure you'll see much benefit with it on the XT5's, I don't think Fuji gave it a pass as being one of the accepted 40mp lenses! I rate the lens very highly and is another reason why I think I'll upgrade to the better AF and 'compatible' 26mp XH2S. Good video John, thanks for everything you do for us!

I was very impressed with the great video. As someone who likes Fujifilm, I have a question. Do you shoot in raw when taking wedding photos? I'm worried because I heard that the crop sensor's compensation dynamic range is narrow. Have you ever experienced any inconvenience while working?
@lionheart4424 Жыл бұрын
In the video is shown that he edits the photos using his own personal presets. Presets are also known as LUTs which (as far as I know) can only be used in RAW files. You can aleays get amazing results straight out of camera but for professional work I think you always want to post-process as much as you can.
@임정환-h3s Жыл бұрын
@@lionheart4424 What I was curious about was whether there was any reason to use a Fujifilm camera if the user was going to do a lot of post-processing like this. I heard that the AF is weak compared to other brands and the correction dr is narrow because it is a crop sensor. Nevertheless, I was curious about the reason for using Fujifilm. The advantage of Fujifilm is the color of the original JPG... I asked this question because I thought, if I'm going to do a lot of post-processing, do I really need Fujifilm? (I sometimes used presets I made for Canon jpg or Nikon jpg)

CFEXPRESS cards can be had for a good deal. I wish people would stop complaining about cost. You can use the standard SD slot until you find a deal on Cfexpress cards. In fact SD cards also work in my XH2. I used the SD card until I got a deal on a Cfexpress card. I just picked up a Sabrent Rocket 512 for 159.00. This is on par with regular SD card prices. Excellent review as always, and now you convinced me to buy a 23mm to keep in my kit. I shoot mostly landscape and I have a Viltrox 13mm 1.4 lens. I may even buy the Viltrox 75mm 1.2. I am now looking for a 70 300mm or 100 400mm. I have the 18 55mm, and a 16 80mm lens. My flash is a Flashpoint Li-on iii r2.

If you compare the fastest Sandisk V90 SD 128 GB to the Sandisk CF Express B 128 GB, they are about the same price. And a 512 GB CF Express B card is even cheaper per GB in comparison. It might only a real problem for photographers who didn't need those V90 cards, I'm used to similar prices as a videographer/photographer...

2 xt4’s along with the 33 1.4 on one camera and the 18 1.4 on the other. Perfect set up. I use the 90mm for outside when I have the room. I also have the 35mm f1.4 and 56mm f1.2 but on weddings I find them slow. I’m thinking of putting a third camera into the mix and having it dialled in for either slow shutter creative moments or set for silhouettes so I’m not having to change settings. One thing I will add to the dance floor that people might learn is that you need 1.4 or 1.2 not for the lower iso but for being able to use high shitter speed. Like 100th or less. Its important to freeze the movement by using fast shitter speed. Otherwise people appear ghosts😅😅

I've watched this video 3-4 times now. I love it. I just sold (KEH) off several Sony GM lenses and bought a XT-3 with the 18 to 55 kit lens. For Wedding, videography and photography. I love the Fuji. I'll be getting all my Sony equipment together this Sunday and giving KEH a call to set up a video time so I can trade it in on Fuji equipment. I'm thinking XT-5 for sure. I can't decide on the lenses though it looks like the 33 mm 1.4 is a must for me I have shot entire Weddings with a 50mm. Most wedding photographers I know love their 35 mm primes. I have never owned a 35mm lens in 29 years of business. So I'm thinking 56mm f1.2 and the 18mm f1.4 (or is the new 18 mm lens not necessary since I have the 18 to 55 kit lens?)

My worry with the Xh2 and XT5 as a hobbyist is the file sizes. 26MP was perfect to shoot sports without breaking the bank with an XT3. That said, the AF and lack of IBIS is unfortunate. I can end up with thousands of photos after one day of shooting, so 40MP files would mean having to replace all my SD cards as well as upgrading my current storage system. On the other hand, the XH2S is very pricey for what I shoot.

I think it really depends on how you shoot and how comfortable you are with getting close to the event. I stand pretty close to my weddings while I’m at the ceremony so I feel like the 56 is fine. I used the Godox v860ii for 5 years until the battery started to expand (very dangerous). I noticed it when I had trouble getting the battery out. I ended up just upgrading to the v1 on black Friday. Great company!

I had the metal grips on my xt3’s but now I’m on the xh2s and don’t need them which is nice. I also upgraded all of the lenses to the new 23 wr, 33 and new 56
@BTMovieSecondChannel2 жыл бұрын
I have the X-H2S now as well, next to my X-T3. With the deeper grip, you don't really need any extra support indeed. By the way, out of the 23 and 33, which one gets your most use? I currently own the 16mm 1,4, 35mm f2 and 90mm f2 as primes, but feel it lacks a little punch between 16 and 90 to really capture a full wedding day nice. That's why I am interested in getting a new 23 or 33 1,4, but I might have the budget for only one of them. Which one does get you the most and the best pictures?

I have used the 16mm 1.4 for years now. The one thing to be aware of is that it is not the sharpest at f1.4 compared to the 18mm 1.4., 23mm 1.4. or 33mm 1.4. However you can stop it down to 1.8 or 2 and the sharpness improves dramatically. If you know how to use it it is a great lens. The close focus distance is amazing and if you are close to your subject it is very sharp at 1.4 (but not at middle or far distance).

After watching you videos for a few years, I bought myself the fuji xt5 but do you have issue with the autofocus? I have noticed a hand full of my photos are out of focus even when the green focus square was in focus when I shot it. The autofocus seems a little slow. Any suggestions how to fix the issue. Do you think the auto focus on xt5 is too slow to capture a speedy toddler? I used the fuji 50 mm 1.0 WR lens.

great and useful video as usual! Why did you choose the "old" 16 1.4 over the new 18 1.4?
@jbivphotography Жыл бұрын
I wanted a wider lens overall. The 18 is a little too close to the 23 that I mainly use so I wanted something that was CLEARLY different in my lineup and look. I know a couple of photographers who just use the 18 overall. I’m wondering if that would have been a better choice for me.

Do you notice if the angle of view of the 16 2.8 is slightly wider than the 16 1.4? Have you tried the new 18 1.4?

55mm f/1.2 WR is an awesome lens no doubt. Would love to know the difference between using it on the XT3 and XT5. In my experience so far with the XT3 the lens is fast and pretty reliable in good light. Indoors, in crappier light, it slows down to the point where it misses a lot. Definitely not as reliable as the 23mm LM WR has been on the same body. If I keep the shutter speed at at least 1/200 and so short bursts I do seem to have better luck.

Hiya John, I shot wedding with my Fujiflm gear too, I am using Xt-3 + Xt-3 (Xt-2 for backup), 16-55, 35.4, 56.2 and 2godax flash right now. If I want to hear your advise, what's your upgrade patch? Should I go for a better Camera like Xt-5 first? Or should I go for 23.4WR, 56.2WR or 16.4 as you do? Thanks~
@nh0ckute2842 жыл бұрын
1655 such a great zoom lens, xt5 is more better than xt4, you should watch more review about xt5 to decide, WR is not necessary in my opinion
@MentalMa3ter2 жыл бұрын
@@nh0ckute284 I didn’t upgrade to X-t4 because of different battery, and I think t4 upgrade mostly for Video, t5 seems a good step but I think t3 still usable. WR is not my main concern too but the new 56.2 have a closer focus and motor upgrade. I don’t have 23mm, that’s why I am thinking getting 23 so I have 23,35,56 to shot prime. I understand 1655 is a good lens but f2.8 is not enough for me. I am considering should I go for 23 and then new 56 or should I get a better body~

@@jbivphotography if i had fuji as a main camera, i would shoot every wedding jpg+raw, edit the jpgs and just shoot the raw as backup if anything fails! I might actually just switch to fuji for photos honestly after trying the fuji x100v🤯

I agree, I don't shoot weddings yet but jpgs are just amazing.I think sometimes we are too much sucked into all these detractors and we forget to enjoy photography, I think this worries are imposed by marketing (fomo). Lets enjoy what we have and things will fall into place.

Why not a GFX? Or you do prefer an aps-c crop?
@jbivphotography Жыл бұрын
I prefer the speed of the crop sensor. I LOVE the GFX but I keep that for mainly bridal sessions and engagements. Basically slower sessions. For weddings I like the snappiness and speed of the crop sensors.
