Our 1800cc stroker engine will be started, but first we need to fill it with oil and get the oil throughout the engine and make sure it has oil pressure. Our tech shows you how to unload all the internals so the engine can build oil pressure safely. Then we’ll drop a fuel line in a can and get our engine fired up, set the timing and run it for 15 minutes to get the camshaft and lifters worn in. It can be a tense few moments hoping that everything holds together on a newly built engine but we and the engine make it through! If you have any questions or comments, let us know below and of course, if you like our video, give it a thumbs up!

Nice! Would like to redo my engine this way. Why did you choose to go with high lift rockers instead of a different cam? Just figuring stuff out.
@Sam_Mebane
@Sam_Mebane 6 ай бұрын
In all honesty, it was because the only cams we had available when this engine was assembled were the EMPI cams, not the Engle cams. I would have preferred to run a W110 cam, but didn't have the option. So, I went with a stock cam and to get the most performance out of it, and because I wanted to show the process of setting up ratio rockers (as there wasn't a good video that I could find) I went this route.

Loved the description. Is there any idea of the HP of the engine with the mods you did?
@Sam_Mebane
@Sam_Mebane 2 жыл бұрын
Based on previous engines we've run in the past and dyno-ed we're guessing at about 75 hp at the wheels. Stock was roughly 58.

Great job guys it looks great. On a vw don't you want to use oil with zinc at all times?
@JBugsVWParts
@JBugsVWParts 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, we recommend using oil with zinc in all air cooled engines. We use the high zinc during engine break in.

@@JBugsVWPartshello I already have 50 miles on my new engine but didn’t use break in oil, I used sae 40, is it to late to use the break in oil now? If not can i drive it around for a certain amount if miles since i dont have a gage? Thank you
@Sam_Mebane
@Sam_Mebane 5 ай бұрын
As long as you used "classic car" oil (any motor oil with a high zinc content) it will be fine. I'd change the oil as soon as possible, and just keep using the same oil, as long as it has zinc @@nikittoo1.

Is it only the negative and positive (red&black) wires from the electric distributor to the coil???
@JBugsVWParts
@JBugsVWParts 5 жыл бұрын
From the distributor to the coil, yes. The coil does have a power wire that goes to the positive side which powers the coil and the ignition module in the distributor.

No, the parts for this engine were picked piece by piece. We don't offer them in a kit.

Is it always necessary to remove the rockers from the heads? I've never heard of anyone doing this before or is it just for high performance motors?
@Sam_Mebane
@Sam_Mebane 4 жыл бұрын
It isn't necessary but it does keep the lifters safe while the engine builds oil pressure before the first start.

@Sam_Mebane
