Me too. I have the same one and these videos are gold. Lol It's funny though, the videos are only 5 minutes or so, but doing the work in them can take several hours.

This was super helpful for my '65.

Glad to hear Jon! 1965 was the first year of the larger door and quarter windows, so the process is very similar for your car. The windshield and rear windows are larger than the 1964 as well, but unlike prior and later front and rear window changes, they didn't change the side windows.

I love the fact y'all use Ryobi... some people Dewalt is the best because it's the most expensive... PAH!!! I love my Ryobi stuff.
@Sam_Mebane Жыл бұрын
Ha, more like "De-FAULT"! I've had Ryobi tools for 25 years, since they were blue and yellow! Nowadays all the stuff is probably made in the same factory somewhere, but I've just gone the Ryobi road.

Currently trying to figure out if I can remove door glass and window regulator with port window still installed, if anyone has some insight would be much appreciated!
@Sam_Mebane2 ай бұрын
It depends on the year, and if by port, you mean vent window, yes they can be, but you do have to remove the bottom bolt that holds the vent wing window in place.

Great stuff. But what about convertible glass?

That's a horse of a different color. Hopefully we can cover it when we get one of our own that we can restore.

I’ve recently been looking on the website for parts to a beetle I’ve been working on. I’ve found fenders and other things but a passenger door is a different story. Does anyone know what I can do or where I could order a passenger door
@Sam_Mebane3 жыл бұрын
You'll have to head to a junkyard or otherwise, they are not made new that we are aware of.

Would really like to know if super beetle and beetle (1200/1300) share the same doors, so any 65-77 door will fit?
@Sam_Mebane4 жыл бұрын
Provided both cars are hardtops, the doors are interchangeable, yes. Keep in mind that some of the components on and inside the earlier models aren't the same as the later model doors. 1965-1967 doors are pretty similar and have mostly interchangeable parts. 1968 through 1977 parts are fairly similar throughout.

I guess just rip the door panel off. The first step would be removing the door panel and the door handle and the armrest.

That's pretty much how it goes, yep. That is only the first step if they are in place. Don't forget the window crank either!

Soak with PB Plaster, hammer and punch to try and shake the rust free, repeat for a day or two and if all else fails, try a little heat. Otherwise it's time to drill!

That would probably be a little boring and the only thing we "skipped" was mundane time, I can't say that we skipped any steps.
