I just inherited a Model 31 from my Uncle Paul. It is so cool. I love the fact that he probably ordered it from a catalog 70+ years ago. It is beautiful. I like the fore-stock coming all the way back too.

My grandfather has one of these still, and it's a very reliable gun! Definitely needs a cleaning and a new firing pin, but it's also very accurate.

Love the comment on the Weaver Scope. I purchased an old Winchester that had a Weaver Marksman 4X scope. Since traded it and purchased a Glenfield (Marlin) model 60. Put the scope on it. Excellent shooting rifle. Yesterday I purchased JC Higgins Bolt action 22 with a beautiful stock on it. I have a JC Higgins cleaning kit I purchased at an estate sale. In an orange tin box. I am 74 years old. I sure do miss the Sears Christmas catalogs.

AHHHH! The good, old days. When blued steel and walnut was the norm! Where have they gone? My J C HIGGINS Model 30 is always there to remind me.

I'm a sucker for all the J.C. Higgins guns. I own lots of the .22 rifles and quite a few of the Model 20 pump guns. The quality is insane for the price.

1969 - Grandpa wanted me to have the little JC Higgins Model 31. So, on my 13 birthday I was given a used Model 31. Papa ran a coal yard in Indianapolis and took the .22 in exchange for a half ton of coal. Beautiful rifle. I put a Weaver V22 3-6 power scope on it with my paper route money. Squirrels, rabbits, and groundhogs were no match.

I bought a used JC Higgins .22 autoloader in 1960 at a hardware store in Illinois. It had the pull out sling and a hinged forearm that folded down for a vertical grip. The rifle was very accurate and

Hey Paul, enjoyed your video on the the various mdl JC Higgins. I recently came across a mdl 30 with original scope that needed a good home (& cleaning) and afterwards took it to the range. I too was quite impressed with the original build quality of the rifle and with it's accuracy at 50 yards! Ten shots into 1.12" w/o a lot of effort using RWS Target std. velocity ammo. I think these High Standard rifles are the equal of any 22 on the market, costing up to $500 or so.
