I watch you because the world is getting so screwed up you reality brings me back to faith in humanity. I turned wrenches for 17 years before I bought my Snap On tool business. I understand your diagnoses pattern and how you get to the problems very quickly. People don’t have a clue that you have a gift of understanding how hydraulics works. I watch you and listen to you closely while your working because you are a breath of truth. I ask the Lord to watch over you and the dogs because I would rather talk to my dogs than talk to people. Keep doing what your doing and thanks for the great videos.

watching you video, I learned where the gear solenoids are on the JCB, I have spent an hour or better looking at the service manual and couldn't find the location. I have the T4i transmission and six gear doesn't work, But after pressure washing, It'll work intermitily , my guess is a bad wire on the solenoid or the solenoid its self.... Now I know where to start looking. THANK YOU!! your videos are informational

I was pretty proud of myself--I was able to follow along AND understand what you were talking about. That doesn't always happen. I have turned a wrench or two, but am not nor ever was a mechanic, and especially not with all the electronics you go through. Great job Warren.

Iv watched you for a couple years and ill tell you your understanding of systems is awesome. I try to think the way you do its hard sometimes. Just breaking each system on a machine down to what exactly that particular part does. I think you would benefit so much from getting a Oscilloscope and iv dicked around for a year online trying to learn it but Im sure there is training. Pico makes top knoch 4 channel scope. Hydraulics you can use a pressure transducer adapted to circuits and have an instant recording of system pressure. Hell one of the ones that blew my mind was Relative compression. you use the waveform of the starter amps and see each cylinder coming up on pressure and can identify down cylinders fast. Testing possibilities are endless.

Hello Warren, good video as ever, just wanted to share with you, I worked for a company that had quite a few JCB telehandlers, and they were a big problem travelling them any distance. We also used to get burnt smelly oil, we found that to be the fins in the gearbox oil coolers blocking up but not completely and boiling the oil and then it would blow the dipstick out the tube and blow out the breathers, fire oil everywhere. and then it would start killing the packs eventually. Hey I know you know way more than me, I just thought id say.

Very interesting stuff young man and another collection of videos sorting out a tricky repair job to look forward too. Having used JCB telehandlers and artic steer loaders I can say they are great to use. Thankfully I am not clever enough to start to repair one when does go wrong. That is why guys like Warren do a great job and are interesting to watch because they have all the hassle when it comes to repairs! I will stick to welding stuff up, making stuff or using machines to do jobs!

Hello Warren, I worked on a JCB 217S with no reverse and no 1st gear. I found mismatched and burned relays. I replaced with the correct relays and problem solved. The relays are not identical (check the parts book) and also have diodes built in. If the direction control on the column tests good, the relays would be my next step. The wiring diagram explains very well. This can be verified by probing the solenoid connections at the transmission and looking for correct and stray voltages.

My current employer had a 2000 3CX backhoe that had a similar problem with its 4spd powershift gearbox. It was a gasket that failed between the solenoid bank and the clutch packs. There was tiny veins that directed oil flow to the correct packs. The gasket between perished and directed oil to the wrong places. Took us a while to figure because we had 2 JCB technicians out and they were beaten by it. One bad gasket caused a headache.

Worked on a backhoe that had that transmission (was a bit older though, late 2000s as it was not ecm controlled but rather had a relay logic board) there was an updated valve body I installed as the shift valves/coils changed
@JamesGarage063 жыл бұрын
Our jcb 3cx will not always go into gear, it will jump out on occasion aswell. With reverse if the reverse beep comes on it always means you get reverse, but it takes a few minutes prior to shifting the stick for it to actually engage. Same with forward. Abit concerned about how to go about fixing it
@stevehill46155 жыл бұрын
Dunno if this applies to the later loaders but the earlier models did have problems with the micro switches on the shift lever unit that would make the powershift act erratically ---- this was mentioned on a number of UK farming forums and the symptom that turning the engine off and restarting appears to "clear" the fault makes me think a sticky or leaking voltage micro switch is keeping the 2, 4 clutch pack solenoid "powered up" locking the transmission if 1st or 3rd are selected and no drive when 2nd's selected.

Love the manual reading and detective work. Great explanations on this one. If that manual is a PDF you can search for anything really quickly using "control" " F" to find and then up/down arrow to move through all search instances. Quicker than s c rolling through the page and every instance of the word shows up. Great video with tons of good clues!

Only works like that if the source input is text in the first place, unfortunately quite a bit of pdf creation is pure image rendition where the search function returns with not found across the board.

My 1994 Jcb 214 backhoe the relays were dirty contacts . Once cleaned it was perfect. I put grease on all electric contacts. I don't have the automatic shift though. Maybe there is a manual method to jump shift coils individually to test in each range to rule out hard failure in trans and point to shift computer or wiring relays etc.

I had an issue once with a similar situation on a different machine where stopping the engine and restarting would "fix" it. Turned out there was a piece of material on the screen that would fall down when the flow stopped and suck back up after a while once restarted. Then it would block flow and the issues would come back. That was a tricky one.

Everybody has different brands of equipment and you have to try and remember it. Trying to keep the information in your head in the right file cabinet of the brain. I grew up with everything in written manuals, now everything is on the computer. I don’t know why, but for me, I can fathom the information out of a book quicker and more clear to me. Takes me longer with the computer.

Hey Warren, guess we wont know for definate until the update, but after checking for pressure 7 bar by the way is almost 102Psi not 10Psi, as the oil smells burnt drop the transmission oil look for particles and also the screen filter. I fix those Yellow things as a day job , u should inspect the wiring ( probe the soleinoids ) , Those codes are fairly limited i believe they only show disconnected soleinoids it cannot detect a stuck soleinoid or slipping clutch packs . And we changed a couple of ECM's over the Years mainly for not powering the 4wd soleinoid. Sticking soleinoids are common issue , mainy due too burnt clutch disc saturated Oil . And we use a Truck Hoist to remove the Tranny so its not that miserable , two people can do it in 4hours easy. disconnecting the engine is another 4 hour job . and then u have too pull the pumps (or disconnect the hoses ) too . When u pull up too 4 a month that time adds up quickly .
