I live in California, and Newport beach has recently had crime go up, a woman was murdered in broad daylight in fashion Island, and another fashion Island attempted robbery just happened a couple of weeks ago, this is a place I'm at almost everyday, so there is crime increase here even in very affluent places. I left Hancock park which is where I lived before, and a young woman's throat was slit while she was working in a high end furniture store, walking distance from where I lived, she was killed by a homeless man who had a rap sheet and was let out. Those other men who murdered the lady from Newport had rap sheets as well and were let out. Our state officials here are soft on crime and it is a problem.

I have travelled to and spent time in 47 of our states with my job and I have Backpacked/Walked the PCT, the AT, and the CDT meaning I have spent months at a time walking through 22 states in total, stopping in towns to recover, resupply and enjoy the communities. I recently moved to Texas which is RUN DOWN, horribly managed, filthy, the power grid goes out often, property tax is 3 times what it is in California, food more expensive, utilities are overpriced, cant find good food, no culture, run down towns not taken care of ALL over the state and violent crime is MUCH MUCH worse here. You may THINK you have it bad in California but I can attest that California is an absolute paradise especially compared to nearly everywhere else in the country

During the height of the recession, the poultry plant I worked for was hiring in production the entire time. We paid $12/hour to start. It's a union job with excellent healthcare, vacation, sick time, and tons of opportunities for overtime. Most people were taking home at least $1k per week. Not one white person applied. Not one. It was the same at the ranches and hatchery. The only place we had non-hispanic applicants was at the feed mill. Immigrants do not steal our jobs. Apparently the mayor of Springfield has said the Haitians have come in at a time when the town needed additional workforce and the town had a lot of empty apartments and housing so they've helped revitalize the town, but now many Haitians are being attacked and bullied. One quit his job after he was physically beaten at his job for eating bugs. He was interviewed on democracy now explaining that Haitians don't eat bugs. Another parent has transferred his children twice from schools because they were being bullied and beaten by the local children.
