I had this watch in 1994 and been wearing it until 2011 but lost it during the unrest in Libya. I recently bought a Seiko Prospex Turtle (SRP775) and been smiling since then. Never will I lose such a gem ever again.

It looks great! The watch equivalent to a reliable, comfortable pair of your favorite jeans! Authentic wear looks so much better than the affected vintage look that some producers design their watches with. Re: leather bands on dive watches, people should be less pedantic. I wear my Marathon Medium Diver with a Horween leather band. It's comfortable and more suitable to my lifestyle. I have NATOs that I can use if I ever find myself needing to use it in the water, however I would probably wear something cheaper in that case anyway.

Great find. You're smart to leave it original. The patina makes the watch. 👍

You may already know this, but just in case! The first number in the serial number represents the year of production. The second number or letter represents the month! So it's a May, 1993 Production!

Love the look of a Pepsi with patina! Bought a skx009 to use as a daily for that reason. Going to take a while but can’t wait for it to show some wear. Good video!

I had a yellow face version of this, wore it several months and then sold it. Yeah, the crown location and case design is neat. I sold it since I was afraid the movement was losing the ability to retain energy, but I was probably mistaken about that, didn't know how movements of that type work.

Great video and love your watch. I just saw one on eBay and it has a yellow face and looks old and the owner said he bought it with the yellow face in the late 70s/ early 80s.They didn’t state if they bought it new or used. I see in your comments that they came in black or blue and the others are after market. But also see a couple of comments of ppl. having the yellow face dial. Anyway, I might still get it bc it’s priced low and not getting many bids. So was this the first Seiko divers watch that had this look with the rubber strap?

So it's been almost three years since you posted this and me being my usual curious self: how is this little gem fairing? Did you keep it in its original state? Do you still wear it? I just picked up an all-black version from eBay. Bought it here in the EU, so I paid a tad over what you paid. LOL I went for one that has a slightly beaten up bezel, but with an OK dial and hands. No loom either though, not a sausage. I got a new bezel insert for it but now I'm wondering whether I should keep it as is. It gives it a kind of vintage look that I'm loving. Another question, if you don't mind: did you get it serviced by an official Seiko dealer? And do you remember how much it set you back? Thanks!

Still have it but don't wear it just coz I have other watches to wear and most of the time I wear smart watch now. I think it cost just under £100 from watch maker not Seiko. The guy said it would be easy just to put new movement in but I wanted to keep it as is. Great watch will keep it

Just bought a 7002-700A which is the international version with pepsi dial. Serviced it and run healthily about 10s fast at all different watch positions. Loving the patina and design of this pre-SKX Seiko. I have Seiko Monsterp gen 1 bought new more than 15 years ago. This is new-old Seiko is as attractive as my Seiko Monster. Now the only issue with mine was the bezel. It gets very difficult to turn at 4 and 11 clock positions. Still researching how to fix it.

Thanks, Great information. I have had one of these in a box for ages. Mine has the Yellow face which I have now found is aftermarket but it still looks superb.. you didnt mention what the resale price would be...GN

From what I'm told its only black and this blue dial andthing else is aftermarket. Ebay is full of them from £150 to £500. Seikos ae becoming very collectable. Buy now before they get into silly money.

What is its daily summing now that its been COA'd? But if you're wearing them so far over your wrist in that manner I can see why you prefer the offset crown, but it's still no way to where a diver watch of any type, or any type of watch really.

@@TheNomadsLens I think serviced. I wear mine low on my wrist as well and am a lefty. Love this watch, actually found the same model, 7002-700j, from February 1990, (your date code is on the back in the serial number) and am just as pleased as you. Mine is serviced now and runs as well as some of my cosc pieces, I’m glad I stumbled onto your review as it led me to buy one. Really a great piece, I love a watch that has history to it and has been worn and used. Not the easiest piece to find unmolested/modded. Great review.
